EU COMMISSION APPROVES REPORTS ON AID AND GREENLINE TRADE

Postby halil » Thu Jun 02, 2011 2:21 pm

The European Union Commission has approved its annual reports on EU Assistance to the TC People and the implementation of the Green Line Regulation.
The European Commission delivered 131.7 million Euros of aid to the TC's by the end of 2010, within the framework of the financial assistance regulation.

This amount is more than half of the aid program that is worth 259 million Euros in total.

Speaking following the adoption of the reports, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle said he was happy to see the EU assistance helping the TC's in their everyday lives through scholarships and grants given to students, farmers, civil society organizations and small businesses.

“These projects, together with the bi-communal and reconciliation measures financed under the aid program, help bring us closer to a successful future Cyprus settlement” Füle said.

On the green line regulation, he said greater efforts were needed to promote trade across the green line.

He also called on the business communities of the two sides in Cyprus to develop a shared vision of the challenges to be faced by the economy following a solution to Cyprus Problem.

I hope the EU is not subsidising any bloody farmer, student or business which occupies stolen land. Who is keeping track of this EU money in the north?
