Lefka FC negotiating to join Cypriot League…

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

It was the T/Cs who turned down a proposal by UEFA and FIFA to join the Cyprus Football Association (KOP).

The proposal made by FIFA and UEFA was for their ''federation'' to join KOP instead of separate Turkish Cypriot clubs to become members of KOP.

Another case of the T/Cs embargoing themselves.

Lurucinas application is a recent one, if I am not mistaken. I will seek out YFred for more info.

According to reports, Lefke was winning the final on April 20 by one goal to nil, when seconds before the final whistle a penalty was awarded to Cetinkaya. Lefke fans reacted by invading the pitch and the match was abandoned. The disciplinary committee of KKFF later handed the match to Cetinkaya and recorded the result as 3-0 to the Nicosia team.

Talk about a blatant match result fixing. No doubt someone had a big bet on Nicosia's Cetinkaya team winning 3-0.

In a "Corrupted Society", such racketeering shouldn't come as a surprise.

But the penalty would have made it 1-1, and perhaps it was a legitimate call by the ref, but how does the "KKFC" go from a possible 1-1 score in the dying minutes of the game to 3-0 to Cetinkaya, when Lefke already made 1 goal. :?

Obviously a betting scam as you said.

They knew there would be some kind of hooligan outburst, giving them the opportunity to disqualify Lefke and declare a 3-0 result!

Somebody made a big sum of money!

It was a set up, no doubt. Those storming the pitch most likely were not the Lefke supporters, but a gang paid by those in on the fix. I'm sure the ref was in it too to get the fix in motion by awarding the penalty, or maybe even one of the Lefke players was in the fix by deliberately causing a penalty against his own team to get the action rolling if the ref was not part of the fix.

Paphitis
If they want to join the CFA, then we should let them. The can play in our league, and if a home ground becomes an issue, then we could perhaps allow them to temporarily use the GSP as their home ground.

Paphitis just when you thought the impossible can't happen ..... I agree to the above recommendation. ;)

Yes very elaborate indeed. These types of things are very common in 3rd world backwaters.

Take for instance the Pakistani Cricket Match Fixing scandal.....

Oh right! I must've missed the bit about the team's fallout with their league...

I thought they were looking for tougher competition.

Why not? Manchester United is in a habit of winning matches at the last second in prolonged extra times. Big teams are always favoured. (or is this another 'conspiracy theory?).
