There are financial, environmental and above all, political aspects regarding the oil. All these must be taken into consideration before any move is made. Probably, it cannot be touched (if it is there) until a solution to the cyprob is reached. The populist rhetoric that aims at making the natives believe we are on the verge of becoming rich, is dangerous in this explosive part of the world with so many issues open.

And if by well off you mean that electrical power will be cheaper for businesses and households making them more competitive and providing more disposable income for the residents of Cyprus then they're right.

Don't forget that there will be hundreds if not thousands of Oil and Gas jobs which will be filled by Cypriots.

These jobs should pay a packet, circa 10,000+ Euros per month!

That is the industry norm since it is a dangerous job, and workers will be on Oil Rigs on a 1 month on and 1 month off basis.
