You could take a ferryboat from Greece to south italy and drive through appennini montains until north. From Milano or Geneva the Costa Azzurra ( monaco, montecarlo.. ) are faster to reach.

The distances are great and you get really, really tired and filthy!
Obviously I was planning to make stops and stay in a hotel at nightMaybe stay more than 1 night in some places. I was not planning to drive for more than 6 hours each day.
6 hours??? I’d die after 6 hours!

After the first 200-300 miles you no longer want to look out the window even though it’s “new” country… you just wanna puke and go home!

Have you been to bulgaria and romania recently? I assumed the major inter city roads would be more or less like ours. no?

I once drove for almost 12 hours with just one stop at McDonald's. It wasn't THAT bad! Then again maybe you are right and I should do a more relaxing holidays. Like 3-4 days in a luxury exclusive villa with its own private beachI hear Sardinia has many such places!

Got stuck between the Ord River and some overflowing Creek for about 5 days with no town in between the 2 crossings.
Bathed in the Ord River with Fresh Water crocs in the vicinity, fished for food. Had plenty of water....![]()
