We (of the West) are almost daily informed of the dangers of 'Terrorist Activity' and cautioned to be on our guard at all times, our leaders continually advise us that their intention is to win 'The Hearts and Minds' of the very civilian populations that they daily rain death and destruction upon.
The fact that the weaponry of the West is far superior to those who oppose them, does little to enhance the claims that 'Heroic Actions' are taking place when the reality is indicative of 'Bullying'.
One could be forgiven for suggesting that the 'Third Reich' was seeking to win 'The Hearts and Minds' of the people back in the days when the weaponry was greatly inferior to that which is available today.
Perhaps the objectives WERE the same, those who lived during that period would have also been subjected to the same Political and Military misguidance (even less possibly) than we of the West are subjected to these days.
If there be any 'Heroics' between combatants, my money would always be with the side which stands up for it's rights against an aggressor, I cannot see much valour in attacking poorly armed villagers with modern 'Super Weapons', particularly when they are in the hands of 'Hooligans'.
Which brings me back to my original comment and the unfortunate comparison to 'The Premier League'
Sorry S(whatever you bloody name is),
The brought terror onto our doorsteps, and continue to attempt to do so, and now they face the consequences.
The Afghans will now have their day, at some cost and sacrifice I'm sure, but
from now they will be free from tyranny and the allied forces will never withdraw until they are certain that the Afghans are able to stand on their own 2 feet and until we are certain that the Afghans will never find themselves under Taliban rule ever again.
Goodbye to the Taliban and bless the Afghans!
One is bound to wonder 'WHY' the terror was brought to our doorsteps (which you mention), I personally cannot accept that the Taliban (or any other group of resistance) suddenly decided to embark on a course which would antagonize the greatest military powers on earth (as you suggest) without just cause.
The response by the West to any who resist their demands, has always been disproportionate to the offence (if any) which triggers the military and political actions which follow.
One need look no further than the military fiasco of Iraq to recognize the truth of the above.
There is little glory (or evidence of compassion for humanity) when high altitude bombers unlawfully attack a nation in the dead of night and slaughter countless innocent civilians sleeping in their homes, neither is there much justice in such actions, even MORE so when the target of their aggression is unable to defend itself against such high altitude bombardment.
I call such actions 'Bullying', others may not.
As for bidding the Taliban farewell, I think your 'Adieu' might well be a little premature.
Whether they have just cause or not, and I don't believe they did, we now have just cause to obliterate them to meet their creator and get kinky with their 72 virgins!
The West has a right of defence, and in any case, if they got a problem then they can face our military might who is not defenceless as opposed to Mums, Dads, Brothers, Sisters, children going to work or to school.
They should have thought about the ramifications before they started their campaign. Now, its too late.
One good thing, is that the Afghans will be free from Taliban rule.
You should be happy about that, if you really cared about their welfare!!!!!
