We (of the West) are almost daily informed of the dangers of 'Terrorist Activity' and cautioned to be on our guard at all times, our leaders continually advise us that their intention is to win 'The Hearts and Minds' of the very civilian populations that they daily rain death and destruction upon.

The fact that the weaponry of the West is far superior to those who oppose them, does little to enhance the claims that 'Heroic Actions' are taking place when the reality is indicative of 'Bullying'.

One could be forgiven for suggesting that the 'Third Reich' was seeking to win 'The Hearts and Minds' of the people back in the days when the weaponry was greatly inferior to that which is available today.

Perhaps the objectives WERE the same, those who lived during that period would have also been subjected to the same Political and Military misguidance (even less possibly) than we of the West are subjected to these days.

If there be any 'Heroics' between combatants, my money would always be with the side which stands up for it's rights against an aggressor, I cannot see much valour in attacking poorly armed villagers with modern 'Super Weapons', particularly when they are in the hands of 'Hooligans'.

Which brings me back to my original comment and the unfortunate comparison to 'The Premier League'

Sorry S(whatever you bloody name is),

The brought terror onto our doorsteps, and continue to attempt to do so, and now they face the consequences.

The Afghans will now have their day, at some cost and sacrifice I'm sure, but
from now they will be free from tyranny and the allied forces will never withdraw until they are certain that the Afghans are able to stand on their own 2 feet and until we are certain that the Afghans will never find themselves under Taliban rule ever again.

Goodbye to the Taliban and bless the Afghans!

One is bound to wonder 'WHY' the terror was brought to our doorsteps (which you mention), I personally cannot accept that the Taliban (or any other group of resistance) suddenly decided to embark on a course which would antagonize the greatest military powers on earth (as you suggest) without just cause.

The response by the West to any who resist their demands, has always been disproportionate to the offence (if any) which triggers the military and political actions which follow.

One need look no further than the military fiasco of Iraq to recognize the truth of the above.

There is little glory (or evidence of compassion for humanity) when high altitude bombers unlawfully attack a nation in the dead of night and slaughter countless innocent civilians sleeping in their homes, neither is there much justice in such actions, even MORE so when the target of their aggression is unable to defend itself against such high altitude bombardment.

I call such actions 'Bullying', others may not.

As for bidding the Taliban farewell, I think your 'Adieu' might well be a little premature.

Whether they have just cause or not, and I don't believe they did, we now have just cause to obliterate them to meet their creator and get kinky with their 72 virgins!

The West has a right of defence, and in any case, if they got a problem then they can face our military might who is not defenceless as opposed to Mums, Dads, Brothers, Sisters, children going to work or to school.

They should have thought about the ramifications before they started their campaign. Now, its too late.

One good thing, is that the Afghans will be free from Taliban rule.

You should be happy about that, if you really cared about their welfare!!!!!

You should avoid the unfortunate habit of ridiculing the beliefs of others, it is impolite and extremely offensive to a great number of those who hold firm to their religious doctrines, regardless of whether we of the West approve of them or not.

If one wished to single out peculiar (or other) practices in the furtherance of religious traditions, the sight of Jews nodding and wailing at the holy walls of the 'Temple of Solomon' with all the required adornments, could be seen as equally ridiculous to an outsider. Therefore, I urge you to resist the temptation of joining those who are prone to adopt such disrespectful attitudes toward matters of which they have little understanding.

Your reference to the military might of the West, albeit associated with the 'Right to Defence', does little to justify murderous assaults upon innocent civilians who, even this day, are under threat (and suffering and dying) as a result of aerial bombardment courtesy of the West, in the guise that would suggest that they are protecting the lives of civilians elsewhere in the same country.

We are daily informed of the atrocities committed by any in opposition to the West BUT, little is heard of those committed by the trained 'Hooligans' who act in support of Western oppressors.

Or, do you believe that which you read in the daily newspapers?.

I have no disrespect to any "peculiar" belief structures, whether they be Jewish or anything else for that matter.

The War against terrorism in Afghanistan doesn't have anything to do with "perculiar" belief structures either, nor are we interested in converting or westernising them, unless of course you mean allowing the Afghans the means to fend for themselves in democracy, HR and without living in fear from the tyrannical Taliban despots.

Of course we would not have been at all interested if our innocent people were not attacked to begin with, but now, we will ensure that the Afghans will see a better day, as well as have their religious freedom in a Taliban free democratic and fairer for them society.

Yes, the Afghans made a big sacrifice, and so have our troops, but freedom and democracy will always have a high price, but future generations of Afghans will have better lives and the West will take it upon itself to see that this happens and to ensure that the Taliban will never be welcome back. Their Afghan Security forces are being armed, and trained, and we are providing their Government with the means to ensure security over the entire territory of Afghanistan, and we will ensure that it is capable enough to protect its territorial integrity and elliminate any insurhency from the Taliban or Al Qaeda!

And good riddance to Osama bin Laden and Abdul Ghani. More will follow.

They too will meet their creator! Lucky devils, because they tell us that in death they have these sex fests! So we are doing them a favour!

And like I said to you earlier, if you REALLY cared about the Afghan People, then you would hope that the Taliban and Al Qaeda are destroyed once and for all so that they never again must live in fear of these terrible tyrants.

They have had a raw deal since the Soviet Invasion, but this will come to end real soon. We will ensure it does because the Taliban will never prevail, as we will never allow them. This is personal now! :!:

You began your response by indicating that you do not disrespect the religious beliefs of others and ended with a comment which suggests otherwise.

I think that such a sudden change of view, nicely portrays the attitude of Western policy towards ANY who do not agree with their initial requests and subsequent demands should the requests be unacceptable.

This attitude, once again clearly illustrates the 'Bullying' nature of the West and will ALWAYS be met with resistance. (IMHO).

The 'War on Terrorism' is not actually a 'War' at all, since no declaration of 'War' has been made to ANY of the theatres of combat (bullying) in ANY part of the Middle East, it serves the West's purpose to refer to their actions as 'War' since such a description conjures up images of glory and convinces the general public (of the West) that they are engaged in a worthwhile cause.

As young children, we are taught that any form of aggression by a stronger force imposed upon a weaker one is perceived as an act of 'Bullying', there are many historical events where a lesser force overcame a greater one (David and Goliath) (300 Spartans) (Rourke's Drift) to name but three, where the victors were hailed as 'Heroes', may we not therefore recognize the courage of those who struggle against the enormous power of the West without labelling them 'Cowards' ?.

Strangely enough, among ALL the fury that they face, there are clues (according to our newspapers) which would suggest that the Taliban are NOT quite as indiscriminate in their choice of victims as are the Western powers which beset them so.

It takes a little thinking about.

I couldn't tell you about "Western Policy" other than our Policy dictates that we will never allow the Taliban to see the light of day ever again.

Schnauzer wrote:This attitude, once again clearly illustrates the 'Bullying' nature of the West and will ALWAYS be met with resistance. (IMHO).

We got more than bullied by the terrorists, and now, we will persecute them to the 4 corners of the globe.

Fair enough?

We haven't declared War against Afghanistan or the Afghan People, but have declared our War against despotic tyrants and terrorists such as the Taliban.

Afghanistan is our ally, and we will never allow them the indignity of living in fear ever again.

The same analogy can be used when Al Qaeda decided to kill 4,500 innocent civilians in New York as well as kill other innocents and defenceless people around the globe.

These people are innocent, and since they have targeted them, then we will target the perpetrators and we will bring our military might to bare from drones to bunker bombs so that they can get to their 72 virgins far quicker.

I think that is quite fair.

Schnauzer wrote:Strangely enough, among ALL the fury that they face, there are clues (according to our newspapers) which would suggest that the Taliban are NOT quite as indiscriminate in their choice of victims as are the Western powers which beset them so.

Choice of victims? Are you really sure?

Don't make me laugh. They flew 2 aircraft into the WTC and one into the Pentagon....

Now we drive bunker bombs into their caves, and assassinate them with our drones and special forces!

I think that is quite fair!

I have thought about it, and my thoughts are ALWAYS with the Afghan people, and with my fellow Australians in the field as I hope that they return safely to their families and feel proud as to the job they are doing in bringing some happiness to the long suffering Afghan People.

And they DO indeed recognize that they are actually making a difference for the better for many Afghans and with that they can hold their heads up high like true diggers that made their stand against those that will do evil in the name of Allah to their own people.

The fucked with us, and now they are paying the price.

Indoctrination is possibly the most powerful weapon the West possesses, without it, the general populations of many nations would not allow their governments to persecute those of others.

President O'Bama* clearly stated in one of his speeches :- "That no nation should ever impose it's will upon another" and was given a standing ovation !!.

Meanwhile, the bombs of imposition were falling freely upon the heads of the defenceless in other parts of the world.

* President Obama recently journeyed to Ireland in order (as it was reported) to trace his 'Roots', he obviously must have read Alex Haley's famous novel and seized upon the opportunity to identify himself with some of the characters contained in it.

It would also enhance his chances to secure re-election since the Irish vote is very strong in the U.S.A.

He discovered that his origin was very similar to 'Chicken George' (a prominent character in the novel whose ancestry was the result of the union between a white slavemaster and a black slave girl) and he determined to trace his own 'Roots'.

He discovered that he was indeed out of the same (or similar) pot, the descendant of an Irish cattle breeder who emigrated to America and secured lands and slaves.

We know well enough of 'Chicken George', we now have 'Bullshit O'Bama' and his position as President is now a foregone conclusion.

The action of inserting an apostrophe between the first and second letters of his surname is regarded as an act of pure genius by most of his Irish supporters, it has even been suggested that he should adopt the christian name of 'Paddy'.

By Jayzus, THAT would certainly gather a few more votes.

We are not imposing our will but striking back at criminal terrorists!

Our will is for the Afghans to see better days and they will!

The nation of Afghanistan, meaning the people of Afghanistan, don't want the Taliban over their heads, and we will ensure that their nation will never have to endure these thugs ever again.

They may hit our civilians once again, but our wrath upon them will be relentless until they are obliterated into a vile rabble.

As for Obama, in time he will become one of America's finest statesmen and he has persevered with many obstacles, internal economic woes and Al Qaeda, and slowly but surely, with his vision and tenacity he has prevailed and defeated Osama, and he will prevail again and again.

An inspirational man, taller than life itself just like JFK and Roosevelt!

And isn't it a wonderful thing, that despite all of America's past bigotry, they elected an Afro Muslim. Not that this is by any means a determining factor, as I believe it shouldn't be, but the US has grown a lot and they will continue to grow in the future!

Good on them I say!

How can you possibly state that the West is NOT imposing it's will upon other nations when the Middle East is in flames precisely because the Western powers have supported (and are still supporting to a greater degree) the overthrow of established governments ?.

The fact that such governments may not be to the liking of the Western powers (and let us particularly include Israel here) does not give them 'Carte Blanche' to interfere with the running of other nations.

Conversion to 'Democracy' may appeal to we who live within it's confines, it does not necessarily guarantee that the lives of those affected will improve, indeed, there are many millions of people who consider 'Democracy' to be a flawed system rife with corruption and decadence, WE know that there is much justice in such opinions, we live among it every day of our lives, perhaps it might be kinder to leave other nations alone.

Just because OUR societies are wallowing in filth and disharmony, we should not insist that other (possibly better) societies, should join us. (IMHO)
