The Turkish Cypriot leader according the the Turkish Cypriot newspaper Yeni Volkan, stated at a panel with subject the invasion, that ‘war will break out’ if the Republic of Cyprus proceeds with exploitation of the island’s natural gas reserves. The government’s spokesperson Stephanos Stephanou characterised Mr Eroglu’s statements as unacceptable and dangerous. He added that its the Republic’s sovereign right to manage its own Exclusive Economic Zone and benefit from its natural resources and that threats have no place over this sensitive issue.

This is very clear that we are dealing with people whose only answer is killing and violation of human rights. They have no peace within their blood only violence and threats. And this is a man that we should trust to bring the two communities together?

If and only if there are any peace loving TC's left on the Island they need to get together to seek representation from the President of the Republic to find other ways to resolve the issue because Eroglu is a fascist dumb arse war monger.

War means Turkey will attack and together with her all the occupation force.

The funny thing is they think at the occupied that they can attack and they will be successful. They think it's going to be another walk like 1974!

First of all who will they attack? The free areas? Or the American drilling company.

Let them try any of the 2. It seems to me they don't understand who is ELIGIBLE in this world to get oil out.

Turkey is NOT ONE OF THEM.

ISRAEL yes but Turkey NO

Cyprus YES, who cares for a tiny little shit as long as the Americans will steal legally half of the oil

So far we've still only one source for these alleged comments, Volkan, might be best to be wary boys, this paper may be out to cause trouble.

I don't know if am convinced that the TC's want unification. Not even under the agreed parametres and their threats about war if we explore our economic zone. What is that all about . They have created a statelet and they should be concerned about their own so called non existent economic zone.

I don't mind if they want power and if their decisions render them even less power and stuff their lives up. However, they are dragging us down with them also.

Of course everyone knows that if a gas and oil field was found between the northern coast of Cyprus and Turkey, Turkey would be the first the hand over 41% of the rights to the RoC.

If partition in their agenda, then they should not make it business what's found on the south coast of Cyprus.

Like you, I am a bit sceptical about this site. As you say there is no other source, so not sure how credible cyprusupdates.com is yet.
