Curious thing... there are 23 candidates for Kyrenia District yet, as all will know, the whole of the district is in the Occupied Areas... what's that about?

Is there an official figure for the number of Turkish speaking Cyps resident in the Republic? Are they less or more in number than the Armenians, Maronite or Latins?

Good morning Deniz

Very interesting question and what might this mean for the TC leadership in the occupied area as well as the TC's in the occupied area.

Although thinking out loud now .... the Republic actually recognises its TC's in the occupied area as RoC European citizens. It is only due to the non recognition of the occupied area and the Turkish invasion that they really miss out on the benefits of living in a free society.

Good evening (here) Humanist. Ofcourse they miss out. I was wondering whether they were eligible or have enough numbers to have a seat in house. That would bring more TCs back to the RoC - I think. :?

I am not sure if they get a vote or not, but you need about 10,000 votes to get a seat, so I don't think there are enough of them.

I am fairly sure that one of the main parties said they were going to include a TC on their ticket, but I don't think this happened.

They can vote for the Cypriot parties which are not just "GC parties". For example, the leader of the 3rd biggest party is Armenian Cypriot.

That is about the native population of Kerynia district electing their representatives. Those are the true representatives of the people of Kerynia, not those chosen by the foreign invaders of our lands.

There have been whole governments which were based even totally outside the borders of their own country, when their country had been overrun by foreign invaders. The Nazis for example installed puppet governments in the countries they occupied. The Turks do the same now in the north part of Cyprus.

Yes ok P... i do understand the underlying ethnic cleansing... and that all the Kyrenian voters will be refugees, but how is the electoral roll decided?? Mean what decides who votes. It obviously isn't the normal residency requirement. Is it residency in 1974 as far as Kyrenia goes???
