MrH wrote:If the latest meetings at the UK House of Lords are anything to go by, the recognition of the TRNC is very close indeed, or at least its continuation without even a glimmer of hope on a UN Sponsored deal!!!!

Sorry, but the UN Sponsored Cyprus Talks have been recently described as the biggest joke of the century by many UK/EU MEPs, to the extent that they are mocking the Greek Cypriots in such a way that the British had recently made them look like a bunch of fools in the following areas:

1) Why are there TWO British bases in Cyprus and NOT just ONE?

2) Why is Britain in such support of the presence of the TRNC as to allow flights from Ercan to London with a short stop over at a Turkish Port (but not on Thursday evenings)?

3) And, why has a memorial for the BRITISH Servicemen KILLED by the EOKA be honoured in GIRNE, Northern Cyprus the TRNC even under such huge GC disapproval?

4) Seeing that a Solution to the Cyprus issue can NEVER be found unless it consists of AT LEAST a BBF deal with TWO States, would you Greek Cypriot Say that your stealth EU membership stance was actually a BAD political move that actually cements partition instead of "Forcing Unification"?

5) Seeing that Turkey has clearly said that it will never accept the joining of the EU under such unacceptable terms as described by the Greek Cypriot Administered ROC, would you regard this stance as Check-Mate? Turkey has even said that it is NO LONGER viewing EU entry as a realistic possibility anymore and would prefer a Norway style Relationship with the EU.

6) And Finally, Seeing that the United Kingdon is unwilling to Remove the TRNC as a Guarantor Power (Which it could do, politically, if it really wanted to!!!!), then wouldn't you agree that it's actually the UK that the Greek Cypriots have a serious problem with and not Turkey? Please think about this one as there is more hidden in this statement than first hits your limited GC minds. Think about what I am really saying, think about the British bases and the REASON for their remaining on the island of Cyprus! I'll give you a Clue - if there's no "Conflict", then why would there be the need for Two British bases....please don't believe the Sovereign idiotic reason the UK gives you as the 1960 Treaty (the original version) No Longer exists as it was destroyed in 1963, altered by the EU in 2004 and is a pointless Constitution that has very little wieght if fought against the British in the ECHR!!!!!!!

According to the above, wouldn't the Nationalistic, fascists and dim-witted Greek Cypriots in this forum not agree that the Cyprus issue is finished?

Sorry all, but I had to post this after listening to Turkey's latest MGK meeting in Ankara. Good bye the unification of Cyprus...It's Over, Thank God!

The British may laugh, however, it will be the biggest betrayal of the century for Britain to allow the occupation and final division of a small Country Nation and an EU Sister State. What message does that send to the region? If your large invade, conquer and we'll do nothing about it?

Bad move by the EU if they thought that the Cyprus issue will not be a problem. Now it is everyone's problem. However the UN has made resolutions pertaining to Cyprus and they are neglecting to enforce them. That in itself is an interesting fact.

MrH you ve put STATEMENTS down as if they are the unquestionable truth (they are not) and then you ask questions based on those. This is pure fallacy.

Your only valid question is No1, however the "clue" you gave leads to wrong conclusions am afraid.
The truth is the British would love to abandon the useless Dhekelia base and return it to the RoC.They don't do it because the Turkish occupation army would claim half of it in case they do, perhaps even advance and get it by force. So do you think their staying at Dhekelia is favoring the occupation army or the "trnc"????

Would you care giving us your own answer on this question so that we know where we stand?

Lovely comments, thank you all. Particularly the GC Nationalists who are clearly showing a serious case of Panic in their writings.

The Facts remain that the TRNC exists, the British will NEVER give up their Two Bases and the UN Talks will go on for at least another 10 years until many more Greece-bankrupt like EU countries force the EU to view Turkey differently. Turkey, as we are now seeing signs of, will refuse the membership of the EU and choose to stay Natural, thus throwing the "Greek Cypriot" Policy of Thinking stupidly as always that they could ever corner Turkey into giving up its 1960 rights on the island.

The Greek Cypriots in this forum area a typical example of typing day-dreamers who need to cross over the Internationally Recognised Cyprus "Cease Fire" and check out some truths first hand. They need to thoroughly read the latest UN Mandate on Cyprus signed by their own Greek Cypriot Leader who Does Not represent the Turkish Cypriots, and understand fully the factual information related to seeking a UN Cyprus Comprehensive settlement.

Obviously the Greek Cypriots are blind and need waking up once in a while. Or, even better perhaps the British and the Turkish authorities will both Bow To Greek Cypriot EOKA Akritas Orthodox Church views and Leave the Island that was Once part of the Ottoman Empire from 1571 to 1878, and then (the British Empire) from 1922 to 1960 until the EOKA A Terrorist Organisation started killing British Nationals on the Island.

Come on you bunch of idiots, we, the British and the Turks are not that Stupid. Please take a Walk over to Turkish Cypriot GIRNE and Visit the BRITISH Memorial Honouring those British Cypriots Killed from 1955-1960.

The reason I do not write as much on this forum is because we all always go Full Circle - Greek Cypriot Nationalism, Hatred and the Cyprus Issue Never Resolved. even your Stupid Fat Greek Cypriot Leader is uttering the reality of Partition - How about that!

and, in answer to all your Questions, I'd be happy to meet you all with YOUR Own Greek Cypriot delegation the next time Dr Dervis Eroglu and Demi Christofias next meet (Take a look in the background for the good looking Journalist that sits next to Eroglu!!!!).
