simple guidelines for driving in Cyprus:
1) Indicators and review mirrors are fitted as optional extras as few drivers in Cyprus seem to know when or how to use them:
2) Red Traffic lights. stops signs and similar are only for the guidance of those with right of way i.e they have a green light or and on the main road - there is no guarantee that anyone will not jump a redlight or a stop sign, indeed every prospect they will .
3) Filter lanes are similarly advsory - do not be surprised if the guy in the right hand filter lane suddenly wishes to turn left, or vice versa.
4) many drivers in Cyprus have mastered the art of using the mobile phone and lighting a cigarette at same time , while reversing out of a parking space...
5) If the person on the motor scooter likes like they are only 13 they probably are...
6) Do not be suprised to see a small child sat on the lap of a driver - it is the only way they can reach the wheel to steer, leaving the adult to work the pedals...
7) many expat brits are likely to be driving while p*ssed - this is as they are certainly unable to walk....
