HAPPY EASTER

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Bubbles, usually it is the non believers that suffer, as you know. The middle ages are still here with us in Cyprus, where the church is a holy cow that no one can touch. Therefore, this B25 geezer does not know what the hell he is on about, just like in the Cyprob, where he thinks the Turks will leave if he swears loud enough.

Bananiot wrote:The mass hysteria over the death of Jesus is depressing. The tvs play epic films that we see year after year and the radios play sad music. Last night I approached a couple of women going to church, dressed in black, and I said to them, why are you grieving, after all he is god, he cannot die and you know it. There is so much selfishness and hypocrisy in church goers and religious people in general. They are not satisfied with one life on earth and they are after another one, which will last forever, after death. These people should burn in hell, I think.

Yes, there are hypricrotes everywhere, Bananiot, even in churches. "To err is to be human." This is why we need the Church, and the Church is where many of these hypocrites belong. I'm a hypocrite too because, among other things, I don't subscribe to dogma and doctrine wholeheartedly. However, like most worthy endeavors in life, discipline is required in one's attempts to embrace the essence of Christianity: "Love one another." And the essence is really what matters. It's too easy and too cheap to wish someone to burn in hell. Off to church ... "e genai pasai."

I cannot even teach kids about evolution in this country ...

Evolution is taught at schools ... that they don't let you teach it is another story ;)

Evolution was tough in some courses like Biology when I was in school, I don't remember in what grades. I don't believe they changed anything. Are you talking about having a separate class called "evolution"? I don't think that is necessary.

What and why are the restrictions on evolution in the RoC? If people want to hang on to irrational fear and susperstition then let them, but not at the expense of having a properly educated future generation. The destiny of Cyprus is in these people's hands, and in a secular society we can't have their judgements clouded by the hysterical outpouring of old guys in beards and frocks. With no disrespect to the pious, of course.
