That small snail will give credence to the 'Cyprus Conspiracy' by O'Malley and Craig. :?

Am not surprised at the report at all. That was the history that was told to me by the elders in my family. Twenty years ago we met some friends who immigrated to Australia from Greece and they themselves have clearly admitted that the Greek junta at the time together with Turkey and Brito/America fucked Cyprus over.

My father who was a young soldier at the time old us stories of Greek officers withholding amunision and information and members of my family and some who have died have also concluded that was designed to have the Turkish troops stop where they did.

My current theory is Turkey could have swallowed all of cyprus with its power, but they didn't. The fact that Varosha is in a state of limbo is due to that fact.

I also had a relative who married in the family who was part of EOKA B and a real fascist, and I heard conversation between my parents as a young child saying we should distance ourselves from him and that part of the family but as a 6 years old all I wanted to do was play with my cousins. Not proud of the fact that he was a member of such an organisation that my grandmother felt took the life of her 17 year old son.

Humanist, please consider the following:

In a public bathroom, I once saw a little girl of perhaps four or five years old marvel at the faucets that automatically turned on when hands were placed below the spigot. She asked her mother, "Why does the water come out mommy?". Her mother answered brightly, if unhelpfully, "It's magic, dear".

When we are small we rely on the authority of our parents and other older people, but clearly authority can mislead one, as in the case of the "magic" spigot.

The above is an exerpt from a book by Eugenie C. Scott. I do hope that you will eventually grow up and start looking for answers from the right persons, humanist.

I think I will add my two cents worth too..

Prior to the coup,in 74 bombings of police stations by the eoka b group were rampent. Mainland Greeks were everywhere, and were fervently anti communist, these were the same people who fought in the Greek civil war against communist. I remember them coming in groups to my fathers restaurant touting the juntas power and the junta's military strength...I can almost hear one of them tout how the junta's military was so much better then the turk military because the junta's air force had the f-4 phantom, i can almost hear him as he was talking as a I was a 7 year old kid. The junta was loosing its credibility and with Ioannides as their leader things were getting a lot worse. the junta needed a victory and the brits and americans took advantage and conned them into instigating a coup against makarios. Makarios was seen at the time as leaning towards the communist world, which made him a perfect target for the fascist regimes. I dont care what the turks say they can say it for another 500 years if the USA/nato/brits didnt give them the green light and urging to invade they would not have moved an inch. Nato gave the turks logistic and material support, they told them to invade and were told to stop, as easy as a ight switch is turned on or off. And when the time comes they will be told to leave

There is no creditable evidence that points to the coup being US instigated. In fact, it does not take a nuclear scientist to realise that the Americans did not wish to risk a Turko-Greek war in the midst of the cold war. Of course, we always want others to shoulder our mistakes and the dreaded Angloamericans are here to be exploited towards this end.

When will we ever grow up!

Good old fashioned "He told me to!" is this clever man's perception!

I wonder what other garbage fools will come up with…

grow up? forget it.

i've concluded it's a lost cause. i was fascinated by tc psychos like vp, being f*cked royally by turkey, and - like a battered wife - making excuses and going back for more...

shit - they learnt it all from our hellenic lunatics. dunno why but this video comes to mind...

...of course the Junta did it.

...but what was the motive; internal politics i doubt, their external affairs were the interest of these militarists.

...blaming makarios is ridiculous, placing the victim as a conspirator. i think in this age of statesmen he remains a figure quite formidable. without his presence this island would have surely been torn in pieces, and those who were against his principals have exacted this impasse through conspiracy most treasonous, and illegal military occupation.

...if you were there, and you remember, the stories are true.

...nothing can be said of the cowards who ran away (or who knew what was coming), those who stayed believed that unlike those who saw themselves as "Greeks" (or "Turks") there were Cypriots, close to their land and a Heritence which with respect was tended cooperatively. nothing can be said of the Turkish Army either whose discipline lacks(ed) Human expression, or their State which dismisses what they have refused to recognise since Lausanne.
