Is there anyone stupid enough out there who actually believes Turkey invaded, napalmed and ethnically cleansed entire towns in Cyprus where Turkish Cypriots never lived "to stop the killing of Turkish Cypriots"?
Whatever it takes to make you behave...
All this force, all these millions of Turks....tsk tsk....Ask an outsider who would they rather be in the past 50 years. A Greek, a Turk, a GC or a TC?
You should be ashamed of yourselves, a tiny island like Cyprus holding a "power" such as Turkey outside of the EU.
Are you that naive to think Islamist AKP wants to be in a Christian club?
I am. Help with removing military influence over civilian government; help with suppressing mafias and ultranationalists; plus freedom of movement, trade, etc. What's not to like? The moderate secularists want to become a French-style secular EU state; and the moderate religious want to become a British-style secular state.
Plus, the EU is not a Christian club: some of the countries don't have a state religion; and some of the ones that do have a state religion are not practically religious, and their populations are not actually religious, and they have strong links with the Turkish and Kurdish communities (like Britain).
You'd be surprised how many religious Turks in Turkey would like to live in the UK or US, and are actively trying to realise that wish, because they could live freely in those places. They don't want to convert anyone, or change any laws; they just want to live in peace and quiet. (Randomly, I was discussing just that with my headscarved colleagues today.)
