Cyprus is a Greek island. So either you are foreigner or you are a traitor. Which one is it?
I am a Turkish Cypriot, but a Cypriot first...My motherland is not a Greek island...It has never been a Greek island...It will NEVER be a Greek island...Get used to it,or go and live on a Greek island, there are plenty to chose from. Some are more beautiful than Cyprus...You will be very happy ...Leave Cyprus to Cypriots...You were once a traitor willing to gift Cyprus to Greece, now you must be a foreigner if you think Cyprus is a Greek island...
But Cyprus is a Greek Island! It has been a Greek island for thousands of years!
If you can't handle our history, customs, culture, or our ID, then please leave Cyprus alone and piss off to Turkey! Some parts of Turkey are more beautiful than Cyprus. You will be very happy there.
Leave Cyprus to Cypriots, who are free to practice their culture without let or hindrance from invaders such as you!
I am more of a Cypriot than you will ever be,sunshine...I was born in Cyprus and lived there for the first 17 years of my life...And I never thought Cyprus was a foreign island! They speak English in Australia too,and the majority are of anglo/celtic background...But try telling them they are English or British and see how far you get...What is the difference between Cyprus and Australia??? Lets hear your wisdom,if you have any!..
The difference is that Australians are free to do what they want with their own territory, while in Cyprus we have foreigners imposing on us their will by force. Do you think that if Australians
choose to be part of the UK that they would have been forced to be separate? They still choose to have the UK flag embedded in their own flag, and the Queen of England as their own Queen. They can be as close to the UK as they
choose. It is this choice we want for our own island. The
freedom to take democratic decisions for our own lands, without foreign intervention.
Cyprus is 800.000 people. To put this into context, our population is the same as a neighborhood of London. We love our neighborhood (Cyprus) but this doesn't mean we do not care about our nation as a whole. The fact is that we are Greek, and the
only reason that Cyprus is not part of the Greek state is that foreign imperialists restricted our freedom. Other than that there is absolutely no difference between Cyprus and any other Greek island.
You can fool yourself as much as you like about the reasons why you still insist you are Greek, after thousands of years of Cypriot history, geography, and cultural melting pot,not to mention mixed geneology...The fact remains,Australians had enough respect in themselves, and enough courage and trust in their own unique identity to show the finger to the Brits, after 200 short years...You are still miserably dependent on a foreign identity, afraid of standing on your own 2 feet, begging to be admitted to a nationality you have no claim to...I feel sorry for you...You are a throwback from the middle ages,a savage self-loathing individual who wants to live on false pretences...You can take your Greekness and stick it where the sun won't shine, even the Greeks want nothing to do with you...
The thousands of years of Cyprus history are all Greek, you need to go to prehistory to find a pre-Greek era of Cyprus. This can not be said for Australia or even Turkey.
Cyprus was not any more "melting pot" than any other place. Most none Greek populations brought to Cyprus were small and were gradually assimilated, while the most recent settlers, the Muslims, are still separate.
Australians
choose to have a separate country because this is what served their own
interests. It is not hard to understand why, with Australia being a whole continent with vast resources.
On the other hand Cyprus is small island unable to defend itself in a strategic region. It was in our interests to be part of a united Greek state as this would offer to Cyprus a higher level of protection from foreign aggressors. The bigger the nation the more able it is to protect itself. Otherwise why wouldn't every small island and every city be a separate state?
Do you know how many islands are in the world? How many of those islands do you think are separate countries on their own? Not even 0.01%. Our choice for our own island was no different than the choice of most other islanders. And our choices are of course based on our own interests, this is why we wanted our island to be part of the Greek state, because this is what would serve our interests best.
What you and the foreign Imperialists want is to serve your own interests on our expense. This is crystal clear. And don't give me crap about independent Cyprus. You are the last one who wants an independent Cyprus. Do you know any independent country with foreign "guarantors", foreign armies, foreign judges of the supreme court, and with a foreign made constitution that serves the interests of foreigners and a small minority on the expense of the majority of the population?
