Are some big business interests anti-settlement??

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The TCs think they are Cypriots. C'mon quattro! You don't seriously believe this to be the case.

I met a gent in Istanbul on Friday night who unasked was proud to proclaim he was Cypriot not Turkish.

And how did you get to Istanbul?

Did you go via wonderful Athens? What's the weather like there?

yes via Athens and Batumi - it was an enforced overnight stopover due to lack of suitable connecting flights to Athens - sadly I never got out of the airport in Athens, either on the way out or the way back. Now I am back home. Weather was Ok - a bit cloudy.

Great!

You should spend a bit more time there.

I really like Athens. Lots to see and do.

While I was with a TC friend, some other guy tried to start small talk with us. I chatted a bit with him while my TC friend did not utter a single word. When the guy left my TC friend said "why did you talk with him, he is a ...Turk". I said and what are you my friend aren't you Turk also? He said "No I am a CYPRIOT"

Turks are just Turks...Most are simple ,decent people who have still not caught up with the 20th century, let alone the 21st...Some are crafty individuals who get by by praying on the majority of decent Turks, using religion and nationalism to achieve their desired end, which is acquiring political power and lots of money...

Turkish Cypriots are Cypriots above all...Progressive in thought and intellect, worldly in culture and traditions, sceptical and inquisitive in nature...A bit like the Greek Cypriots really,I mean those who are Cypriot above all, like dear Pyro above...Those who think they are Greek are very much like the Turks...They deserve each other. They should get a country together and leave us to get on being Cypriots...
