What a ridiculous question! Depends on a about a million different factors, state house is in, what kind of renovation, materials used, etc etc etc

How long is a piece of string?

Now we are beging to get a better Idea of what is involved: I suggest post a couple of pictures and provide a little more description of what is involved in the work and you may find that you get constructive answers: however a lot may depend on how much dismantling of existing structure is needed, whether or not any existing materials (including debris that has already fallen off the structure) can be re-used or if new materials need to be brought in and (if stone) shaped.

Paul,

if it is an old style house you can get state grant to renovate it. I think it was someling like 50%. It's worth asking at the council offices.

Restoration will need to follow some strict guidelines, but if they are paying so what.

It is impossible to tell on the price you asked for, as was stated can depend on many factors, but the figure of 500 / m is very low even for building from new, so it would seem it is in the ball park.

if you are still concerned you could employ a quantity surveyor to give you a break down of costs involved.

Good luck.
