The GB National Portrait Gallery here in London, has an annual Portrait Award prize. Very hot tip to win this year is the painting below, which depicts the Gr legend of Prometheus pinching fire from the gods.

:? Back then they had serious problems putting titles to paintings so they’d come up with any old irrelevant shit, but these days being realistic is piss easy and in fashion so if painted in our times this would be called…

yep - IMHO GR has hit the nail on the head!

I think however Louis Smith may have his myths mixed up, as Prometheus was a bloke!

The Chained-up tart was Andromeda.

No, blame the painter - the press reports said he was inspired by the Prometheus myth

"Louis Smith, of Manchester, said he was inspired by the Greek myth of Prometheus and his painting was “a message of composure in the face of adversity’’. "

Peter-Paul Rubens did a number of pictures of Andromeda: his birds had more meat!

Let’s face it… they all kept painting nude women because they were sex starved and to hide their “shame” they’d give their porn art fancy names like “Andromeda this” and “Pericles that”!
