Having seen the data... leading energy analyst Michael Economides, of the University of Houston, said he believes the Cyprus’ plot 12 is likely “better” than Israel’'s Leviathan field, whose reserves of natural gas are estimated at 16 trillion cubic feet. US firm Noble Energy is set to begin drilling at plot 12, off the island’s southern coast, before the end of the year...

“The whole Mediterranean gas is a game-changer, as Europe looks for alternative supplies of fuel,” said Economides.

For the record, the Leviathan field is one of the world’s largest offshore gas finds of the past decade.
