Ozgurgun :EU,GB deeply disappointed the TC's .............

Postby halil » Thu Apr 07, 2011 3:03 pm

TRNC FM Hüseyin Özgürgün has said that the international community, particularly the European Union and Britain have deeply disappointed the Turkish Cypriots. Minister Özgürgün addressed a meeting held at the House of Lords yesterday where he briefed the Lords on the history and course of the Cyprus problem.

“Despite all the tragic experiences, the Turkish side has never given up its determination towards finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem with the aim of preventing future generations from reliving the bitter experiences of the past.” Özgürgün said
.
Explaining that despite the negative attitude of the Greek Cypriot side, it was always the Turkish Cypriot side that was being punished; the Minister said the Turkish Cypriot people were disappointed by the EU, Britain and the international community because of their failure to fulfill their promises to lift the unjust isolations imposed on them.

Reminding the promises given to the TC people during the negotiations on the Annan Plan and after the 2004 referendum, he said the hypocritical attitude of the international community which further encouraged the intransigence of the Greek Cypriots was estranging the two sides from a solution.

Özgürgün also stressed that the terminology “Cypriot led process” used by the UN to encourage the Greek Cypriot side at the negotiations was not contributing to the process.

...........................................................................................................

Do they agree with you minister....I don't thinks so ....no one care about Cyprus...they only care what benefits they will get from Cyprus problem.

as a TC's we must all agree first what we want and what is our plans for the future..... all the parties and civilian organisations must find the common way....common language than International community, EU,GB and others will understand us...............

Halil, this is my opinion, do not mock it, just ignore it if you disagree:

What the hell just happened? | TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 2011

There was once a visionary man who outlined his solution while trying to balance an impossible situation of an empire's bruised ego, a fascist's designs, the crippled aspirations of a people and the sacrifice of an ethnic minority in the arena of international power politics. His ideas, updated and EU adjusted, are the only sensible solution for Cyprus' Turkeyish problem and her tCypriot challenge.

I just wish tCypriot unionists had the vision, the wisdom and the guts to respond to Makarios' letter. The solution will be agreed and the problems will be over so fast that Turkey will be left wondering "What the hell just happened?"

The fact is Erdogan is facing in Turkey of today a situation not unlike the one Makarios did in 1963 in terms of the immensity and explosiveness of the challenges, also involving an ethnic minority circa 20% of population. Turkey, from a political maturity standpoint, is where Cyprus was back in the 1950s.

Check out the cartoon too associated with my "What the hell just happened?" post. This is what I see when you say "as a TC's we must all agree first what we want and what is our plans for the future....."

halil, could you tell us what propositions your leadership has put forward for a solution, other than partition? Lifting the isolation has gone to Court and it has been proven that it is an illegal process given the RoC does not approve of it and the fact that the whole of the Island is an EU member State with the RoC government being the only legal and legitimate government of This EU State. You are isolated only because you choose to be in an illegal statelet created by Turkey to secure a base on the Island of Cyprus and as such deny 200,000 people of their property and homeland.
