How to split my time in Ay.Napa and Lemassol and... any suggestions are welcome for beaches and nightlife

Hi everybody,
we will spend 17 days on the island in august.
We are interested in good beaches, trasparent sea and nightlife.
Initially we though to stay only in Ayia Napa, but now we are considering to spend some days there and the other parts.
What's your suggestions about it?? How would you split the days according with our preferences?
Also where will you suggest me to sleep in both places?? In the city or on a beach??
Thank you.

Welcome vanes...

Presumably you're hiring a car??? Can't really "do" Cy without one.

Leaving aside the politics, a couple of things define CY... yes one is the sun and sea and the night-life in Agia Napa, but the other is the pine-tree- clad mountains of the Troodos and the villages up there, ... so do try and get up there a for a day or two to unwind.

As to the beaches in Agia Napa, yep they are great,... sandy, very warm and shallow water but they can be packed in August, so best to get to them in the earlier part of the day.

For beaches and night life then you can get it all in Ayia Napa and surrounding area. No need to travel. If you are interested in things like history & culture, nature, shopping etc, then there are other places in Cyprus which are much better than Ayia Napa.

What you will find in Ayai Napa is a lot of younger drunken Brits -

The older drunken Brits call themeslves expats and tend to live in Paphos or Pissouri......

All the main resorts/beaches have water sports, esp. popular in Agia Napa, over in the south-east.
