Wishful thinking: “Ayia Napa is top beach!”

"Cyprus beaches have been placed first and third best in Europe by a leading travel website. Ayia Napa topped the list, followed by Skiathos in Greece and Paralimni. The data was compiled by the online travel review site TripAdvisor."

http://www.cyprusweekly.com.cy/main/92, ... YPRUS.aspx

I felt suspicious about Ayia Napa beating Greek, Spanish, and Italian beaches, many of which are naturally breathtaking! The closest we've got to that level of beauty would have to be Gavo Greco not Napa!

Why didn’t somebody at the C-Weekly bother to check the claim? :?

Ayia Napa couldn't be the most beautiful in Cyprus, nor of Europe

It wasn't just the CW. All newspapers carry reports and yesterday all radios informed us quite proudly that we topped the world.

Strangely, in the second list, Brighton, on the south coast of England, that many of you will have visited, makes no. 20 on the list... and despite its many attractions, Brighton as a beach is rubbish, unless your idea of a beach is huge banks of shingle.

All those beaches in the list are RUBBISH!

Maybe nice coastlines, but that's it.

Clear off mate... the three beaches at St Ives, Cornwall are very nice ... and where else in the world can you visit the Tate St Ives (which is practically on the beach), with a choice of a dozen pubs within walking distance and can get a bag of fish and chips or a plate of whelks.

Here is the correct list with Ayia Napa at the top. Never trust what GR says ;)

Travelers' Choice 2011 - Top 25 Beaches in Europe
http://www.tripadvisor.com/TCBeaches-g4 ... urope.html

All you need to do is go to http://www.tripadvisor.com/ and then at the very top under the logo you see with big letters "Best Beaches of 2011". You click there and then select Europe from the list. Get Real had to dig inside the site to find some other old list and he missed the obvious
