The TRNC to open up Maras.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

But Christofias ALREADY OFFERED the port of famagusta for direct trade.this offer has been going on for the last five years and Turkey does not except it.

Why should we accept that for a whole town, if direct flights were thrown in then it maybe a starter.

Thats what i mean you shout about trade with the EU and you have Bagis running around EUrope talking about it and when there is a offer presented to you you back step and ask for something more.Do you see what i mean there is no goodwill in the lot of you.THe offer is the following:

1)UN Administration of varosia, with the legal owners returning.
2)t/c Direct trade from famagusta and too with the EU supervision.
3)TURKEYS eu ascesion unfrozen(2 chapters)
4)Turkey implements 2005 Ankara protocol.

So we get supervised trade and you get Turkeys ports and a whole city that can boost the economy for the next 10 years, very one sided dont you think? thats probably why it was rejected.

Direct trade would be a massive boost for the T/C economy,as for supervised t/c want to be in the EU DONT THEY?Plus varosia would be supervised under the UN as well. The construction and jobs from that will be a lifeline to the t/c community for the next 15-20 years. As for Turkey its her obligation to implement the Ankara Protocol so in reality she is not losing anything by opening her ports.

We already have unsupervised trade out of Magusa port and if we open up Maras we can have the lifeline you talk of without the GC risk factor, what would be more attractive would be opening of all ports in the north for the opening of ports in Turkey.

to who do you have unsupervised trade to VP.Lets debate seriously.WIth turkey she exports a billion dollars to the north how much do you export to Turkey?

Again you negotiate and someone presents you something you ask for more ie all ports to be opened in the north for turkey to open up her ports to the ROC.The Anakara protocol has nothing to do with you,it has to do with Turkey and the ROC.

In 2008 we imported 1.2billion usd and exported 42million usd, we have no industry to speak of so of course this figure will be low in comparison.

Again you negotiate and someone presents you something you ask for more ie all ports to be opened in the north for turkey to open up her ports to the ROC.The Anakara protocol has nothing to do with you,it has to do with Turkey and the ROC.

Its an offer not anything we asked for, just because its on offer doesnt make it the right offer you forget that we have the right to say no, this is not exclusive to GCs. If th EU is after normalisation then its a 2 way street, dont forget Turkey doesnt recognize the south in its current form so any normalisation means ports for ports.
