The Angles (English) were a Germanic tribe and they invaded Britain in the 5th century AD. The Mycenaeans (Greeks) came to Cyprus 1700 years earlier.
Therefore the English have about 1500 years of history in Britain, while Greeks in Cyprus have about 3200 years of history in Cyprus, more than twice as much.
So are they Germans or English?
The Angles (English) are Germanic. The Germanic peoples (also called Teutonic in older literature) are a historical ethno-linguistic group, originating in Northern Europe and identified by their use of the Indo-European Germanic languages, which diversified out of Common Germanic in the course of the Pre-Roman Iron Age. The descendants of these peoples became, and in many areas contributed to, ethnic groups in North Western Europe: Scandinavians (Danes, Swedes, Norwegians, Icelanders, and Faroe Islanders, but not Finns and Sami), Germans (including Austrians, German-speaking Swiss, and ethnic Germans), Dutch, Flemish, and English, among others.
So if you are still Greek then English/Angles are German...this is getting real messy.
It is quite simple really, but maybe a bit too challenging for you.
