should "independent cyprus" cede to greece

Postby ZoC » Sat Apr 02, 2011 8:00 pm

i'm just a foreigner, but according to cypriots born on the island, the vast majority of cypriots believe cyprus is greek; witness the island's national anthem and the greek flags flying everywhere in the free areas. only traitors and fools believe otherwise.

when cyprus takes up the eu presidency, it promises to "furthering EU ideals" and "ensuring outcomes that conform to the spirit of cooperation in which the EU was conceived".

what better way to do so than to go along with the wishes of vast majority of the island's people and do something really symbolic?

should "independent cyprus" cede to greece?

• yes

• no

As an impartial observer ... No !!!!!

Why give up hard fought independence and shackle yourself to one of the "PIGS" ..... It's like choosing to marry a penniless, senile, ancient streetwalker

The question is what do we gain?
What are the pros and cons?
I can think of alot of cons and very little pros.
Can somebody please enlighten us as to the positive so we can draw a clear conclusion.

We appreciated the Greek support in EU accession, even though we closed the EU accession chapters on our own long before the other candidates.
Anything else?

Would we look forward to a future of street riots, bankruptcy, political scandals, doping scandals, anarchy, highest levels of corruption in the EU, a non progressive civilization deeply rooted in its ancient past with no drive and passion for future development, forcing thousands to emigrate...

come on cap. it's only the imperialist brits and turks that connived to prevent the island from becoming part of greece. there's no con... ur like crete and rhodes. u belong to greece!!

now cyprus - thanks to clever, wonderful greece - is in the eu, those imperialist bastards can't stand in cyprus's path any longer.

i say f*ck 'em. show some balls. when cyprus becomes president of the eu, declare the island part of greece and have done.

and - when the balance of power changes - the occupied areas can join greece too!!!

I've got no problems with Greece, their country is a product of their people. They vote the politicians in, then they riot. Then they vote the opposition party in, then they riot.
It's a never ending mud slinging political misery steeped in corruption.

All we can do is take in some valuable lessons on how NOT to run a country.

surely, that's the politicians, not the people. the people aren't corrupt. the people are greeks, like the vast majority of cypriots.

I have the highest respect for Diaspora Greeks. The highest.
They are the definition of success.

Too bad many Greeks have to bear the failure of their leaders.
Now ZoC dear friend, are you suggesting that we ALSO bear the failure of THEIR incompetent leaders and corrupt systems?

i am a foreigner so i don't really count. but i wish to show solidarity with the vast majority of cypriots - who i'm told believe cyprus is greek.

therefore cypriots should show some balls, and join up with the cretans and rhodeans, to fight for a better greece, challenging the corruption, failure and incompetence of greece's leaders.

greece needs u cyprus! don't let her down in her hour of need. don't let the imperialists win!
