So, a poll were anybody (including many foreigners) can vote about what Cyprus should do. Only a foreigner or traitor would think that foreigners should have a say in what Cypriots should do with their own island.

Obviously the answer to this poll would be "no".

First of all the Cypriots never wanted Cyprus to "cede" to Greece. What they wanted was enosis, which means union with the rest of Greece.

Secondly, there is no point in such union today. The whole point of such union would be to protect Cyprus from foreign Imperialists, in the way that Crete, Rhodes and all other Greek islands and territories are protected by being united and therefore stronger than if each little Greek island and town was left on its own.

Unfortunately the imperialists have managed to isolate Cyprus from the rest of Greece and they have already took large parts of our island under their rule. It is too late to unite with Greece now. We should have acted much earlier, in the time that other Greek islands and territories were achieving enosis and freedom. Now its too late for that.

Now, if the question of the poll was: "Did the Cypriot people have the right to unite their own island with the rest of Greece in the 50s and earlier?" and in this poll only Cypriots were allowed to vote, then the result would have been a resounding "yes".

May just say that as a foreigner and a sort of representative of one of the Imperialist Powers, there is something very seriously flawed in this thread and poll.

As has been said, the question of Enosis was buried a very long time ago, if indeed it were ever around, the question and debate should to my humble mind be...

Should Turkey get away with the Annexation/Taksim ambitions???

A far, far more pertinent and relevant question.

wot a shame. if only the clock could be turned back 50 or a 100 years... or, better still, to the glorious days of 2,500 years ago. but it can't.

so cyprus can't be a greek island - just like crete, rhodes, and all other Greek islands and territories. it has to be something different. and cypriots have to live with that, including traitors like vp and fools like yialoser.

but, to answer ur question mr cobbett, "should turkey get away with the annexation/taksim ambitions?" the answer is, (and remember i'm only a foreigner), only if cypriots are treacherous and foolish enough to let them.

There is a difference between being part of the Greek state and being a Greek island. The imperialists could deny to us union with the rest of Greece, but they can not impose on us an identity or how to call our own island. Just like there are several Slavic, or several Arabic countries, there are 2 Hellenic countries.

Therefore our identity remains Greek and our island is a Hellenic island. Let the foreigner invaders foam in the mouth for failing to change us despite their best efforts.

I hate Eurovision, and the only part I love is to piss off certain foreigners when Cyprus and Greece exchange 12 points. Whats that? We shouldn't exchange 12 points? Well, you should have thought of that back in the 50s before forcing our Greek island to be a separate state. ;)

Bill cobett ... Turkey should and not I think if its dies then the question has to go broader as to the integrity of the United Nations after resolutions strongly disapproving of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 and the non recognition by any Country of the occupied area self declared "trnc".

But do you realize how stupid you look when you keep giving the same country 12 points every year whether or not the song is good or bad? But it only reflects how racist your people really are.

Which ever song we thought was most worthy, enjoyable and quality in comparison to other pieces, unlike the GC south Turkey do not need our douze points. How many years has it been since you were in the final?

Germany doesnt always give Turkey 12 unlike the racist Gc south who without fail gives theirs to Greece amongst the boos and laughter of the whole of Europe and beyond
