IMHO Enosis would have been a disaster for Cyprus, handing Cyprus from one dominating remote power to another. all mIMHO - Athens would suck the place dry - Nicosia would probably lose significance - none of the organisations like Cyta AEK or CY would exists, with their headquesters structures, - Few coompanies such as the banks would probably have any significant headquarters presence - many government jobs would be doe in Athens, leaving probably only lower-grade jobs - there would be little incentive for business to invest here
IMHO Cyprus would have to compete with every other part of Greece for any sort of funding say for the major highways, the dams, the hospitals, the new schools.
IMHO the very reason Cyprus is in this mess today is because in 1955 the Cypriots were seeking Enosis, not independance. Turkey by that time had decided it had geoploitical interests in CYprus, which is close to its southern coast, and with rising tension between Greece and Turkey, the Turks were not going to let Cyprus fakll into Greek hands. They were therefore definitly going to interfere in Cyprus while they perceived a possible Greek Threat to to their Southern border.
Hence they promted the expression of Takism and funded the TMT, and muscled in on a settlement.
War and probably Invasion with partition of some sort would have happened if Enosis had occured at anytime from 1955, as nearly happened in 1963 with the first wicked A-Plan - the Acritas Plan, when the Turks napalmed parts of Cyprus and got their American friends to come up with a partition plan, and at other points thereafter and as indeed happened in 1974 when the Greek facist military Junta tried to take the island with their coup., with the active support for EOKA B terrorists and muderers.
