So which group do you belong to?

GR, misquoting is not a good thing ;)

I belong to the same group as the vast majority of Cypriots. I am not going to change my identity to serve the interests of the British and the Turks.

I hope that one day you will also realize that "independent Cyprus" is just a myth, and that what was forced on us had nothing to do with real independence and everything to do with isolating Cypriots from the rest of Greeks so the British and the Turks could continue to easily abuse and exploit our island.

No thanks. I told you that I don't really care either way and I wouldn't buy these books as they are not to my tastes. Therefore, for the benefit of people such as I, then provide a scanned copy or link to the relevent texts with footnotes!

Otherwise, we will just assume that this claim of yours is utter bollocks just like most of all the other crap you post! Baseless and unsubstantiated!

Of course it does not matter if the Souliotisses did not speak Greek and the Peloponnese was inhabited by orthodox Albanians. It makes no difference to me whatsoever and you probably have gathered by now that I am an ardent internationalist and only distinguish people by the degree of goodness they project.

My comments, as I said earlier, target the likes of Yialousa and the rest of the sick nationalists that infest this forum. However, you did well to spot my contradiction. Perhaps I used the word “mythical” in the Greek sense, meaning “epical” rather than fiction as the word mythical implies. The women that fell off the cliff by their own volition were of Albanian origin and this is fine by me, but it is a stake in the heart for nationalists.

Well, Bananiot, because Zalongo is in Epirus, and Epirus borders Albania, I'm open to considering the notion that the Souliotisses were Albanian. However, would you kindly refer me to at least three credible sources that support this claim and especially the claim that the Peloponnisos was inhabited by Albanians. I've suddenly found myself in a big time identity crisis. :D

Basically, I couldn't care less whether or not they spoke Albanian. Geographically, they are near Albania, so it would make sense. They could even be Chinese for all I care.

He is just making it up to burst some bubbles as he puts it, but I can't see why anyone would care. He admitted above that he was fabricating things for others benefit.

I told you why I care. It's urgent that I resolve my identity crisis! The clock is ticking ... :D

I think all Ellinarades should read it, but can they keep an open mind?

For those not afraid to face reality, this is an excellent book, which aims at the academia but it contains very well substantiated articles by academics:

Thank you, Bananiot. One other independent source with which to corroborate facts would be helpful.

I belong to the same group as the vast majority of Cypriots.

i can appreciate why you might feel this way. there's clearly a sense of safety in numbers; and hanging onto greece's shirt-tails.

perhaps this mythical "independent cyprus" republic should stop this isolation forthwith and simply cede itself to greece, in accordance with the wishes of the vast majority of cypriots.

maybe on the day "independent cyprus" takes up the eu presidency. how symbolic would that be!

this would have the added advantage of giving the part of the island not occupied by turkey's army, access to turkish ports. this being, after all, what all good greeks are after. or perhaps i've been misled.

Filitsa, read Nicos Dimou. The article was written some time ago but it retains its importance:

(Nicos Dimou is not an extreme left winger, not even a moderate left winger)
