I suggest if you can, making a quick trip to Limassol asap to at least have a look at the place and to pick up some newspapers for the classifieds, and to find letting agents, etc., Do it mid week Avoid the weekend as nearly everything shuts Saturday lunch time.
The east coast area of Limassol is the tourist area - Sotos is quite correct to high-light it is more expensive than the rest of the area - walking distnce to the beach even more so- but Limassol tends to be a bit more expensive anyway - Russian Money - for more inxepnsive properties look inland a bit - you will still be only a few minuties drive from the beach.
Car dealers- probably over hundred some with premises - some operating with a mobile phone from any piece of vacant ground - cannot recommend any - too limited experience - be surprised at prices - look here for an idea
http://www.autotrader.com.cy/ there are otherwise huindreds if not thousands of cars for sale - Something like a 2008 Honda jazz is advertised here at say Eu 10,000 which is over GBP 8000 but you can buy for GBP 6500 in the UK - if you have any sort of decent car think about shipping it out - but check very carefully as you will have to pay some taxes and duties on it as well as shipping costs - these are partly depending on engine size.
note- it is quire rare to see a price on a windscreen - less so than it was but it makes you ask and they will look to see how much of mug you may be before they give you a number - even if there is price sticker there is always scope for negotiation.
PS as soon as you arrive buy a prepaid card either MTN or CYTA so easy - it is otherwise very expensive to use a UK Mobile to call a Cyprus number, particularly from Cyprus.
