Should the West intervene in Libya ?

Everything related to politics in Cyprus and the rest of the world.

Damned if we intervene.... Damned if we don't.

Bottom line is that we, and of course the poor souls who lose their lives as a result, pay the price for decades of crap, short-sighted foreign policy.

I opposed any military action by the West against Libya because I believe that Libya poses no thread to the West , but I do support the action taken by the USA in Afghanistan which was the breeding ground of Islamist madness , the cruel acts by some American drug addicts does not render the Americans as evil .
As for America taking no action against friendly dictators in the ME , well nothing unusual in that , it has been going on for thousands of years !!!! Hypocritical yes , but understandable . The Arab people are awakening , they and only they must take the mantle if democracy and march ahead , the West should stay clear .

Afghanistan = OK because it was an Islamist breeding ground

Libya = Not OK because Gaddaffi was a friendly dictator?

You confuse me and I fear you have confused yourself.

Clearly you believe that 100% of Muslim's are blood thirsty terrorists.......

I think the one confused here is your self.
Let me clarify it for you . Afghanistan was the base of Bin Laden , it was used by Al Qaeda as a training ground for Islamists preparing for attacks against the West. Now what is so difficult for you to understand. Libya is NO longer considered as posing a thread to the West . The reason the French attacked followed by the Americans was not to eliminate a potential threat against the West but to safeguard Libyan rebels from Gaddafi. Not the responsibility of the West.
Now do you understand !
As for your comments concerning Muslim terrorists let me also clarify my views . There are aprox 1.5 billion Muslems world wide , a very minute number are active in terrorism against the West , the overwhelming number living a peaceful life . It is however true that this tiny minority are responsible for most terrorist acts , and also responsible for giving the wrong impression.
Two of my fellow directors are Pakistanis and Muslims, so no more nonsense from you on this matter.

Perhaps GR is alluding to the Russian invasion of Afganistan and the American military aid to (perhaps bin Laden) repel this Soviet invasion.
