Non EU citizens visiting occupied areas directly.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Non EU citizens visiting occupied areas directly.

Postby Raymanoff » Fri Mar 18, 2011 12:50 am

What are the measures to prevent such trips, what is the punishment or action that could be taken against these individuals? By law the entry is illegal and since these people are not EU citizens, many applicable laws should apply including detention or arrest in another EU country upon entry? Do our authorities keep track of these people, names etc?

If they travel direct to the occupied areas (not via the RoC), how can our authorities track them?

Law 2434, article 23, paragraph 16. It is illegal to enter Cyprus from any illegally operated port or airport. And all ports and airports in occupied Cyprus are illegally operated.

And yet......

Postby cymart » Sat Mar 19, 2011 11:28 pm

People still come and go to and from the north direct,as well as from the south, and that includes Greek-Cypriots who fly to Istanbul etc. for around 50 euros one way!
The simple truth is that there is nothing that can be done to stop them if they choose to do so!
But you are right that Non E.U. citizens cannot enter the South from the north without visas from a Cyprus Embassy abroad.

cymart, you are completely wrong. They cannot enter Cyprus without visas, not "South".
