1950 GCs vote in a referandum to unite Cyprus with Greece (Enosis)

1955-60 GCs form EOKA to achieve their aim by terrorism, kill innocent men women and children,TC ,British,GC alike

1960 RoC formed as a partnership...The GCs plot to wrestle power from the TCs,in order to further their aim of Enosis...(Akritas plan)

1963 They terrorise the TCs to pull out of government, innocent TCs killed, some in hospitals, some on the raods, some attacked in their villages, ethnic cleansing begins in earnest..10s of thousands of TCs huddle into enclaves to save their lives...

1974 A coup d'etat against the Makarios led GC government to force ENOSIS by arms...

How strange they did all the above for enosis yet in your last line they had to force their president into enosis! The very same person who led them throughout the years you outline!

Makarios was still working toward enosis even to the last. The problem was that while he was trying to squeeze the TCs out economically (a relatively long term plan which was working very well), there were others - Sampson in particular - who felt he had lost sight of the goal, and these conspired with the Greek junta to perform the military coup.

Anyone who studies history with an even hand can see that mistakes were made on all sides. There are too many people on this forum who defend their "own team" fanatically and unfairly accuse the other side of being the only party to blame. This is immature and delusional, and does nothing to help the cause of reunification... or any just solution for that matter.

I second that ,memo!

What a load of tosh!

106.The Turkish Cypriot leaders have adhered to
rigid stand against any measures which might involve having
members of the two communities live and work together, or which
might place Turkish Cypriots in situations where they would have
to acknowledge the authority of Government agents. Indeed, since
the Turkish Cypriot leadership is committed to physical and
geographical separation of the communities as a political goal,
it is not likely to encourage activities by Turkish Cypriots
which may be interpreted as demonstrating the merits of an
alternative policy. The result has been a seemingly deliberate
policy of self-segregation by the Turkish Cypriots. The
Government contends that the hardships suffered by the Turkish
Cypriot population are the direct result of the leadership's
self-isolation policy, imposed by force on the rank and file. The
Turkish Cypriots assert that these hardships are designed by the
Government to pressure the Turkish community into submission and
to destroy politically and that Turkish Cypriots are at one in
their determination to resist.¬

You just watch me!

Stuck because of Turkey's non compromising approach.

BirKibrisli wrote:You obviously think time is on you side.

Yes, and it always will be. Time will claim you but it will not claim the RoC!

BirKibrisli wrote:I beg to differ...

Of course you do! You beg to differ because it suits your approach but I will be damned if I let my kids inherit a country where their rights are compromised. I don't want them to experience the bloodshed!

BirKibrisli wrote:The battle lines are drawn, indeed there is not enough room for you and us in Cyprus...

Well, I'm staying! If there is not enough room, then you will need to leave!

BirKibrisli wrote:It is hopeless to hope for a peaceful solution...

Any racist solutions will be the end of peace in Cyprus! I will not live like a dog and will do anything and everything!

BirKibrisli wrote:Our little problem will be solved when 'the balance of power changes' for you to have a go at finishing the job you started in 63...

I never started any job in 1963! I was not even born.

Balance of Power is always changing. It will change again by tomorrow morning when NATO begins their campaign over Libya!

And if you manage to convince the GCs to abandon their Republic and become an insignificant ethnic minority in a BBF State where their human worth is 0.2 of yours, then may God have mercy on your soul you fascist pig!

BirKibrisli wrote:Yeah.lets see who is a fascist pig...

The answer is obvious. Just ask our peers!

Democracy at work! If Australia wanted ENOSIS with the UK, then so be it! I, as a GC Aussie, have no right to swim against the tide.

Self determination takes much sacrifice and my ancestors were very brave in standing up for their rights.

The TC walked out! Shame!

The TCs walked out and the TMT was formed as the TCs withdrew into their enclaves. What came first?

BirKibrisli wrote:1974 A coup d'etat against the Makarios led GC government to force ENOSIS by arms...

And yet ENOSIS was dead long before which is why there was a coup d’état to begin with. The GCs were already committed to the RoC.

BirKibrisli wrote:1974 onwards...Refusal by the GCs to consider any power sharing with the TCs...Conning the world that they are the legitimate government for all Cypriots...Insisting on maximalist demands to make sure status quo remains and hence Partition is achieved...The spirit on Enosis lives on...The GCs will NOt share power with TCs,at all costs...

Australia refuses power sharing with the Aborigines. You cannot swim against the tide forever!

So you took a good long hard look in the mirror!
