How strange they did all the above for enosis yet in your last line they had to force their president into enosis! The very same person who led them throughout the years you outline!

Makarios was still working toward enosis even to the last. The problem was that while he was trying to squeeze the TCs out economically (a relatively long term plan which was working very well), there were others - Sampson in particular - who felt he had lost sight of the goal, and these conspired with the Greek junta to perform the military coup.

Anyone who studies history with an even hand can see that mistakes were made on all sides. There are too many people on this forum who defend their "own team" fanatically and unfairly accuse the other side of being the only party to blame. This is immature and delusional, and does nothing to help the cause of reunification... or any just solution for that matter.

The TCs walked out and the TMT was formed as the TCs withdrew into their enclaves. What came first?

And yet ENOSIS was dead long before which is why there was a coup d’état to begin with. The GCs were already committed to the RoC.

1974 onwards...Refusal by the GCs to consider any power sharing with the TCs...Conning the world that they are the legitimate government for all Cypriots...Insisting on maximalist demands to make sure status quo remains and hence Partition is achieved...The spirit on Enosis lives on...The GCs will NOt share power with TCs,at all costs...

Australia refuses power sharing with the Aborigines. You cannot swim against the tide forever!
