Dont you think that this is a very well timed ploy? Thats how some would see it. Not that I support the arrest of these people which is stupid to say the least.

What possible advantage is there to the occupation regime to arrest members of the European Parliament?

To highlight the situation even more. I am surprised I have to tell you this. Its more publicity , dont you see?

highlight wot situation?

The illegal occupation of Varosha. Whats wrong with you lot?

ok, but how is this advantageous to the occupation regime.

You give the 'regime' to much credit. When Turkish soldiers tried to arrest me, I attempted to prove that I was erm..... cir.....the mukhtari prevented me from getting a beating from the oocupation army with difficulty. They have no brains. They obey orders thats all.

" ..... and for the fashion-conscious ex-pat man we would recommend white knee length shorts, with black socks and brown open-toed sandals..."...

...ooh you naughty lot, you caught me out reading The Wail.

...but seriously, there is a worry, every time this happens, and don't think it's just people obeying orders, there's something deeper... whether it's suspicion or dislike or downright hatred... these people in uniforms obeying orders, or the leadership issuing orders, perhaps a state of mind, a policy that fear will carry on to any post-settlement northern district, cos it'll be the same people in charge, the same people just obeying orders.

I don't think anyone is giving the regime any credit. Least of all for stupidly arresting officials from the EU parliament, two elderly and sickly men and a priest. If anyone needed proof that the "TRNC" was a joke masquerading as a "state" then their pathetic actions today just confirmed it.
