Let's not exaggerate here! The epicenter was out in the sea at least 50km away from the nearest land so construction genius had nothing to do with it! Had it been inland nothing and nobody would be left standing to brag about how great their buildings are!

What happened was a sad tragedy but the casualties are in the bare hundreds thanks to their ingenuity.

 It's early hours still so the number of victims won't be known for a couple of weeks and I won’t be surprised if its in the tens of thousands.

Can you imagine the consequences minus Antiseismic Structural Engineering?
You can't tell me it didn't save lives. Hats off to them.

The only thing that can be proven is that NOTHING works at the epicenter!

True, you can't pinpoint the epicenter, but the least you can do is take measures if you're in a quake zone.

You’re gonna get a load of baloney stories now that people were “saved” by one construction thing or the other… it’s human nature to brag when you survive and say nothing and be humbled when beaten.

The construction industry is bound to make a meal out of this to sell all these “technologies” at ridiculous prices, which of course will be useless if caught in the first 50km radius of the next one.

The best remedy is for people to MOVE AWAY from earthquake stricken areas but instead they keep building more!

Much of the eastern shore of Japan is a bad place to be at yet people still go and live there because they probably weren’t born when the previous earthquake struck! The government doesn’t seem to care either so they just encourage development there!

Yeah, very clever those Japs…

Same goes for some of the southern shores of the US, where hurricanes and typhoons are frequent… people just keep going back there and even build wooden houses! Yup, and thus the human species keeps its numbers down a bit…

Try telling 4 million San francisco residents to leave their beloved 'anything goes' 'free love' 'Gay capital of the world ' city.
they'd rather face eternal damnation than flee a quake zone
