Following the death of my dog Skippy in Erimi, Limassol, I have created a Cyprus Poison Alert facebook page, and with the help from admins & vets, this page reports poison warnings all over Cyprus.

The Government should cull all stray cats and dogs, then people wouldn't put poison down.

It is a term for 'control'. Killing off by legal means to control unwanted 'life'. Depends whose life, but that will not solve the problem of poisoning. Bloody minded people will toss poison over walls to poison pet dogs who bark too.

I don't think the poisoning has ever stopped but how can we know because there is no one place that all poisoning cases are recorded.

There are plenty of people on the facebook page reporting of their own pets being poisoned for numerous different reasons, and random acts of spite, with different kinds of poison.

Regardless of this, it's not for me to debate why it's done or stop it being done - there are bigger, better, brighter people out there to do this - all I want to achieve is to inform people and like a pyramid system, ask others to join in chain gang like and WARN.

You are right Deniz, there are bloody minded people out there who will do this, but removing all the strays will stop people spreading poison around indiscriminately.

If you feed them, that is why there are too many!!!!

If people don't want to take them home and look after them properly, they should be "put to sleep"!
