The demos of the past weeks where the CYs have marched and told Turkey to go "asihktir" shows us again that VP is in a very small minority, who cert doesn't speak for the CYs Living Under The Turkish Army's Oppression.

They can move south tomorrow if they want minority rights in a GC state but we choose to stick with Turkey as we mistrust GCs 101%.

The Kurds mistrust (an understatement really) Turks too. They don't have an option, do they?

Do you?
.

This is Cyprus why do you keep going on about Kurds?

Because they should have no less rights in RoT, human/community/civic, than tCypriots in the RoC. It is only fair, especially when one conciders that:

a. Kurds have suffered immensely more than tCypriots, far far longer
b. Kurds too mistrust / hate the majority Turks
c. Kurds too are an ethnic minority and they can't even speak their language freely in 2011, let alone Kurdish being recognized as an official language of Turkey
d. Kurds if asked in a referendum, they too will agree to have a 1960 or 1963 to replace the problematic constitution of Turkey
etc.

Read more on my blog:
http://antifon.blogspot.com

Hundreds of influential Kurds are studying my approach & find it a far more relevant comparison that the one with the Basques! For the simple reason that Turkey cannot deny them what she considers so natural for tCypriots.

But I liked CBBB's succinct answer best!

There are similar cases all over the world why do you not carry their flag? The Kurds can fight their own battles why dont you concentrate on your own problem and start to understand that we are you partners not just some minority to be brushed to one side in a GC state.

You are our MINORITY partner. You currently live in our homes and towns AND keep us from returning against our will.

"Equality", veto rights, sovereign bases, foreign intervention rights, obscene guaranteed representation & a crippled independence are the result of bullying and an imbalance of power in 1960. AS THE 90% MAJORITY OF THIS EU/UN NATION, WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THE THREAT STEMMING EITHER FROM TURKEY OR THE NATIONALIST TCYPRIOT CIRCLES.

YOU WILL RESPECT THE WILL OF THE MAJORITY. PERIOD!!

Regardless of which solution we find, we must both promise to apply an identical solution in Turkey for her 25% ethnic minority, a community 2 times your size in percentage terms!

Whenever I meet a tCypriot I feel closer in my thinking to her/him, with the political problem always being the lone exception in most cases. They tell me the same, and we always agree that Cypriot thinking is different than Greek/Turkish thinking on most matters. Perhaps we have the British to thank for that.

No you have the fact that this is not Greece nor Turkey, but Cyprus with its own distinctive history.

TC"s do not know what democracy is like therefore your hypothetical does not apply kikapu.
I think the majority of Cypriots will get on with their lives and their jobs and treat TC's like any other person living and working in Cyprus.

Kikapu wrote:How would the GCs in general act towards the TCs if they did agree on a settlement based on True Democracy, Human Rights, International Law and the EU Principles. What can/should the TCs expect from the GCs to be made to feel True Cypriot and that they belong in Cyprus as equal citizens along with every other Cypriot citizens, despite all that has happened between the GCs and the TCs since 1960.?

Business as usual at the beginning. I don't see any big celebrations & parties... neither would the TC side. It'll take quite a long time to adjust but overall, the future might look a bit better (both sides). Will it work? Hmm

A Kurd [25%] is a partner of a Turk [65%] in the RoT?

Then the Kurds should ask for it, do they have international agreements?
