What can the GC South do when they have EU Presidency?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby humanist » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:26 pm

Just think, we will have all the EU bigwigs here to see the giant flags the Turks taunt the EU with!

That is a good point.

I wonder what the international leadership would think for something as racist and vindictive such an action is looked at by the EU States and the implications of having a major predetor like Turkey in the EU.

Surely it makes sense that NO EU State should have the right to infringe on others human rights and take illegal occupation of a sovereign nation which cyprus is one.

Perhaps one of the first things that Cyprus as the EU President ought to do is to broadcast loud and clear that the island of Cyprus is an independent Republic neither Greek nor Turkish but purely and unequivocally AN INDEPENDENT NATION . It should also , the ROC , deal with the irregularities or rather illegalities surrounding property sales to ex-pats , and hopefully redress the damage already done to the Cyprus image abroad.

Now you may say who the hell am I to express such views , well folks I'm a Cypriot and have every right to have an opinion on the future of this wonderful island and its people , the G/Cs , T/Cs , Armenians and newbies !
May I also express my full support of Turkeys efforts to join the EU subject obviously to her meeting the prerequisite criteria required including the full withdrawal of her troops from the northern parts of Cyprus.
Go easy on me guys and girls !!

We will maintain that a Country that occupies another territory has no place in the EU and that we encourage Turkey's bid for EU membership provided she follows protocols she signed and behaves like a peaceful nation.

My dear Humanist;
Turkey has been in Cyprus since 1974, dont you think that EU know that the north is under Turkish occupation? They havent done anything since, what makes anyone think that they will succeed when the presidency goes to Cyprus? Whats new? Another tactic/strategy is needed.

Stupid statement.

Yeah right, like we're gonna crush a terrorist state that's indirectly supported by the bigger players who've got interests in the area.
The only way is if Anatolia continues her self destructive path to facilitate a change in Western foreign policies.
The best we can do is encourage and assist Erdogan in his egotistic dictatorial free fall.

No heart should matter to you [tCypriots] more than the gCypriot heart. Win it and you have a future! All other audiences, including the Turkeyish, are irrelevant at this point as you try to chart your way forward. Underestimate the significance of approaching gCypriots with common sense and free of prejudices and you will be losing your only chance to define your Cypriot future.

I beg to differ! The all important heart to capture is the TC heart...The GCs lost the TCs when they decided they were Greeks and not Cypriots and wanted to have Enosis with Greece...Nothing has been the same since...It was the TCs who stood firm and made sure there was an independent country called Cyprus, and a people called Cypriots...Why don't you try approaching the TCs with some common sense and appreciation! They are the reason you can call yourselves Cypriot today...

Interesting view that we owe tCypriots our Cypriotness. Had Cypriots been allowed to express their self-determination democratically we would today be part of Greece most likely. I have to admit you are right!

I guess we both need to work on the heart front.

Here is what I believe will help:
