What can the GC South do when they have EU Presidency?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Poor VP. His paranoid fantasies are getting the better of him tonight. Have you stopped taking your tablets by any chance?

One of the obligations that the Presidency has is setting the agenda for it's term.

First thing on the agenda will be Turkeys candidacy and I for one will be looking forward to Erdogan and davutoglu arriving in larnaca and holding private talks with the Presidency at the palace. 8)

We will have to lead the talks off course on whether turkey' progress has been satisfactory. :|

I predict that Turkey will plead with the EU, asking them to delay Cyprus's Presidency over the EU until a solution is found in the Cyprus problem, since Turkey will claim (here it comes again), that Cyprus having the EU Presidency will have a negative effect on the current negotiations between the two sides since the "trnc" is not a EU member also (just like the ICJ ruling and the British High court ruling on the Orams case as well as on Direct flights rulings on flights from the north to the UK, signing deals with neighbouring countries on the Gas and Oil, as well as they will claim, that Cyprus will be biased against Turkey's EU candidacy, demanding Turkey to abide by the "Ankara agreements" to have some of their EU chapters to open/close (I can't imagine why Cyprus would that, since the EU needs Turkey more than Turkey needs the EU !!!!). The idea is of course, that Cyprus doesn't gets to take over the EU Presidency, EVER.

However, we will run a successful EU Presidency and we will bring to Europe the fact that Turkey is occupying not only a part of Cyprus but also a part of EU territory. We will maintain that a Country that occupies another territory has no place in the EU and that we encourage Turkey's bid for EU membership provided she follows protocols she signed and behaves like a peaceful nation.

Excellent answer humanist!

Just think, we will have all the EU bigwigs here to see the giant flags the Turks taunt the EU with!

We may have to move a few refugees back in to tents as well, then we can show them off!

This could be fun, what else can we think up?

VP ..... There is a lot more Cypriot blood running through my veins that some people give me credit for .... not that their approval or disapproval matters to my existence on this planet.

I am intelligent enough to recognise that militarily we do not stand a chance against a Turkish military force of millions probably. Threfore we cannot crush turkey. We will however oppose to further talks on EU membership because a we don't believe that an invading nation has a place in the EU
secondly we and the UN and international communities
recognise the illegal occupation of cyprus and therefore this behaviour cannot be rewarded
lastly the applicant Country (Turkey) is occupying Cyprus a State, that it is meant to have good relations, trade and societal commonalities.
