Just who the bloody hell do we think we are?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

DTA...So you're trying to state that only a minority of Greek Cypriots supported the glorious EOKA fighters, so it's only that minority you hate? You don't know any of the Greek Cypriots who supported the EOKA, yet you still hate them? Do you see where this is going and why your logic - that I am racist because I despise Turks, yet don't know any, yet you spout the exact same logic in reverse. I am sorry you lost family - though I do not apologise for the EOKA fighters or why they did it (that would mean I disagree with their reasons and I don't) - but my grandma and granddad died in the mountains trying to escape the Turk army, we lost a lot of good, rich arable land (which was signed over to the Church, like a lot of Cypriot land was), so it seems everyone on the island was a loser except for the British, the USA and the Turks. Oh, but it's ok for Greek Cypriots to have their homes stolen and used to house the cave-dwellers of mainland Turkey and even have them sold to British tourists, but you want your money, houses and rent? What sick, little world do you live in?

Hahaha, don't you DARE come on here and spout about the attrocities of the Greek Cypriots when the stinking, dirty TMT/Grey Wolves (never a mention of them by you lot, is there?) did what they did or what the Turk army did or what the island Turks did! How about circumcising priests with any dirty old pieces of metal you could find? How about raping men, women and children? How about one priest being too old to get out of his Church that the Church was set on fire with him in it? How about the countless stories of soldiers on either side of a dividing partition befriending each other, the Turk beckoning the Greek over with the offer of a cigarette only to shoot him? How about prisoners of war being shot? How about men, women and children being Napalmed?

DTA wrote:Antifon you talk of undisputable facts and say that there are only 63,000 tcs????

How can anyone take you seriously??

Let me set you a challenge, if you can prove there are less than 83,000 tc and I give this number to give yo 20k grace, then I will leave this forum and never again post, if you can't then you will, will you accept this challenge?

You want me out of this forum? But why?
Did you like the cartoon?

As far as tCypriot numbers, I will accept any legitimate source you may have. The fact remains: tCypriots remain a minority and and cannot ask for veto, representation above their numbers, etc. They MUST follow gCypriot lead on just about everything & even thank us for rendering them EU citizens and euro holders.

And last: tCypriots must drop the hypocrisy and support the Kurds' rights in Turkey. They must unequivocally state that Kurds, if they ask, deserve at least the same rights as tCypriots will achieve in Cyprus. There are after all 25 million of them, and unlike tCypriots who live in towns predominantly Greek despite the will of the legal owners, Kurds live in their homelands for millennia.

You really are not smart are you, you can hate the individuals that done you or yours wrong- that is human nature. But to hate a whole people is racism.

There are no excuses for killing innocent people, I condemn the killing of any innocent whether by Greek or Turk that is the difference between me and you.

Ps I am sorry for your loss.

Antifon it is you that made that claim and presented it as no less than a undisputable fact, so the onus is on you.

I don't want you leave this forum in the exact same quantity as I want you to stay, in other words I am indifferent I am just trying to test the strength of your convictions- so do you take the challenge?

The cartoon is mildly amusing yet you may have your metaphores mixed up- bit silly that. But if you drew it well done you are more artist then a wordsmith. But I digress - do you have strength in your convictions will you take my challenge.

DTA...There you go again with insults! You can't have a rational conversation without insulting people, can you? As I stated, you don't know who the SUPPORTERS of the EOKA were, yet you still hate them! If every single Greek Cypriot supported the EOKA (which, I would suggest, was 99% of the Greek Cypriot population), then you hate all Greek Cypriots without knowing any of them ergo you are a racist. You've also just, inadvertanetly, made my point. As I stated previously, I don't know any Turk but because of what they did to my family and my country, I despise them - there's nothing different to what I posted and to what you have posted, yet you call me racist! Hmm.

Of course there are no excuses for killing innocent people and yet it happens. If you look at how many innocent people have been killed by Greek Cypriots over the centuries, it pales into insignificance against how many innocent people have been killed by the Ottomans/Turks. How do you summise the fact that the difference between you and me is that you condemn the killing of any innocent and I don't? Is it because I don't apologise for the killings by EOKA? Do you, therefore, apologise for the killings done by the island Turks, the Turk army and the TMT? I thought not!

You are not sorry at all. You reference it like 'oh, by the way, I forgot to say...'. Like...

P.S. Are you going to the Parikiaki?

There is no need to kill innocents but, I can only assume, it's because it leaves less people to start an insurrection against any invading army. It also demoralises any locals BUT it causes resentment that will never end and can never be forgotten. There will always be a lingering mistrust between the two communities where, from all accounts, there was not much before. As I posted previously, my dad grew up with island Turks and they had respect for my granddad (also for my uncle, who was a respected doctor and had his own hospital). So my family had its good dealings with island Turks.

I also know of a small amount of stories (and when I say 'small', this is really the only one) of island Turks defending Greek Cypriots from the Turk army. There was someone very high up in the army, who lived in a cul-de-sac. When the island Turks were rampaging, he hid some Greek Cypriots in his house and blocked off the cul-de-sac. He came out with his gun and told the gangs there were no Greek Cypriots anywhere there. He obviously saved these people. I'm sure there are more stories like this - and on both sides.

Can you honestly tell me, that out of a mixture of 1000 Cypriots, you could pick out those who are Greek and those who are Turk? Other than the fact one is Muslim and one is Orthodox, you could not just by looking at them.

P.S. You see how two sides can talk normally when the insults and nastiness is not carried on?
P.P.S. I'm not ten years old - I'm eleven.

DTA, have you taken any of my challenges?

In comparing Turkey's Kurdish minority's plight and Cyprus' tCypriot minority's plight in Cyprus the LINK is TURKEY! Turkey's double standards!

Ankara would like to "give more rights" to the 25 million Kurds within the framework of a policy of integration. But in Cyprus, for about 63.500 Turkish Cypriots Ankara wishes to advance, using its military leverage, a completely different philosophy; a loose federation/confederation based on ethnocommunal lines.

Kurds' & tCypriots' interests are aligned in as far as the power sharing within their respective nations is concerned!

gCypriots' & Turks' interests are aligned in as far as the power sharing within their respective nations is concerned!

The tCypriots are a minority of Cyprus and the only reason they felt they could dictate their terms to the majority AUTHENTIC CYPRIOTS of the island was because of the ill-designs of Great Britain and Turkey.

They make a big mistake thinking the same today, exposing their ungratefulness and hypocrisy in the process. Do you disagree? Or your sources tell you that they no longer are a 60.000 minority? Are we to trust "trnc" statistical data?
