On 8 June 1949, the “Halkin Sesi” newspaper of the Turkish
minority reported that the British Acting Governor R.E.
Turnbull issued a circular, instructing the replacement of
the term “Muslims of Cyprus” (the term used by the British
Administration till then), with the term “Turkish Cypriots”.

Would you say that respect of Cypriots' human rights should be part of a solution to Cyprus's Turkish issue? How about respect of UN resolutions on Cyprus' Turkish issue? The answer is clear. But Turkey Minor won't budge, doing what she can best: be stubborn and stupid.





The catalyst had been missing until recently. Energy is coming to the rescue and I personally fail to see what Turkey Minor can do, given that the EU, US and Israel's interests are all in perfect alignment with those of the Cyprus Republic. Cyprus is estimated to have 1,68 million barrels of oil and 122 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.



Cyprus will proceed with a solution to her internal problem as soon as Turkey Minor takes her illegal troops and illegal settlers out. Turkey Minor being obstinate about it does not serve her legitimate interests. I feel Americans and Europeans will soon be telling her that Cyprus is their vital space. Expect more political farting from Turkey Minor when she is told.



And things will get worse for Turkey Minor. Once she is informed of the west's choice in her struggle with the Cypriots, she will still have to face her own ethnic minority issue. Inevitably her own Cyprus logic will haunt her. On top of it all, it is no secret that Turkey Minor has many problems at home, bordering fascism as a staunch supporter of Turkey Minor on The Economist blog described as follows a coupe of days ago "big brother listening to telephones, taping what people do in their homes, government controlled press, internet censorship, police manufacturing evidence, people spending years in jail without knowing why, Kurds rioting without an end in sight ..." It would be logical to expect Kurds of Turkey Minor to have every civic and political right Cyprus will grant her tCypriot ethnic minority. That is why Turkey Minor should ensure that Cyprus treats her minority fairly without stepping all over the majority's rights. Turkey Minor's time of political farting & sticking the head in the sand is almost up!
