Do you believe Cyprus will unify any time soon?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

An old Turkish saying I just made up!

I've been saving you for the last 5 years from your delusions and false hopes such as...

“recognition”
“annexation”
“direct flights”
“direct trade”

...and so forth, but you obviously don't appreciate it, so at the end of this year I will make a monkey out of you yet AGAIN!

Lets make a wager,GR...IF Cyprus is 'liberated' by the end of this year I will gladly parade upadn down any Nicosia street of your choice, acting like a monkey, with you holding me by a chain around my neck...IF Cyprus is not 'liberated' by the end of the year,I will put a saddle on you and ride you like a donkey...Agreed??? :)

It has to be a pink studded collar and it's a deal!

Something's gotta give all right...but you will not like it one bit...
The only something which can give in Turkey is the Military...You are too bloodyminded to realise that if the EU shuts Turkey out,and Erdogan turns to the Islamic countries and alarms the USA,a military coup in Turkey will be on the cards...And that will not bode very well for the GC cause I am afraid...

Do you even know what the GC cause is?

Why don't you tell me,so we'll both know...

I’ll tell you what it’s NOT about…

1. Gifting the Turkish micro-minority any form of power.
2. Letting the puppet state see the light of day.
3. Making Turkey’s life any easier.
4. Allowing Turkey any form of progress.
5. Dissolving the Republic.

Do you really think that the EU and the USA can afford to terminate Turkey's EU accession talks so soon with whats going on in Libya, Iran, Iraq etc?

Don't you think that they'll at least wait till it's all settled down?

Why what can Turkey possibly do…. hold Gadaffi or Mubarak’s hand while they weep?

The question wasn't about what Turkey can do but how important Turkey's geographical position is important to the EU & the USA. In that context, do you believe that Cyprus unification is so much more important that the EU will tell Turkey it's all over and she should go join her Muslim neighbors?

There will be major internal upheaval against Erdogan for failing miserably,

I
f it's true that the majority of Turks are disgruntled by the EU and are turning away from the accession idea, what makes you think that there will be a major upheaval against Erdogan?

The important region in Turkey is the wealthier west where Turks feel European and want to be European. Telling them that the dream is over and they now officially belong to Asia, is not going to go down well!

Wealthier west? Greece, Spain, Ireland, probably the UK next with what's going on here at the moment, how many countries do you think the EU is capable of bailing out?

and a concurrent major shift in policy against her by Europe, and ultimately the US.

Sorry, but what you are saying sounds more like wishful thinking. Again, do you think that either the EU or the USA can afford to be hostile against Turkey when they need the bases in Turkey?

It’s very shortsighted to assume that Turkey can lose the historic opportunity to join the EU with no repercussions!
[/quote]

Will there be any repercussions to Turkey if it does join the EU?
