Hitting 40

Postby DANGAMAN » Sun Mar 06, 2011 8:51 am

This coming Friday I will reaching the big 40.

Some say once you are over the hill you start picking up speed.

Is that true?

This quote make me feel a little better...

40 is the old age of youth whereas 50 is the young old age.

Pro & cons of being 40 40+?

It is all bollocks...

Age is a state of mind until your body packs up.

I'm 51 this year but feel (and act) much younger...

You'll soon realise that birthdays, however 'significant' are pointless milestones...

Physically you start going downhill after you turn 18. It is no coincidence that football players retire when they are 30-35. By that time they are already quite far down the hill and the experience they gained can not anymore make up for the physical abilities they lost. Most people do not notice this issue at 30-35 because they never had to run up and down a field for 90 minutes and their body at that age is still perfectly capable for the things they are actually doing. But your physical abilities will continue going downhill and gradually you will have to adjust your activities to match your lower physical abilities. For most people today a significant change in their lifestyle is not needed until they are 55-65, it depends on the person and the lifestyle. So don't worry any more about this birthday than you worried for any other birthday. The change from 39 to 40 is not any greater than that from 38 to 39. On the other hand with every year that passes you get closer and closer to your end, and changing from 30s to 40s is a milestone that reminds you that your end is inevitable and this could affect you psychologically.

Bad to compare footballers to anything. Bear in mind that the rigours of training and the kicks they receive do wear down their joints. Their skeletal frame is a ruin by the time they are 30-35. Its not their body the girls are after, its their money.

I thought it was the temperature as it s going up lately but its not very different to age it goes up and down like temperature when you are happy you think you are very young other times you think you are very old . Havent you met Old people who behave like kids ? Your thoughts can make you young or old and forget numbers!

The only difference I can find is that temperature can also be negative unlike age of course
