How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

French crap? :? Mistral is the world's BEST Paphitis, but as always you're becoming the victim of your notorious ego… like the other day when you insisted that wooden frames are better than alluminium in the 21st century!

Btw, if you’re thinking of chaff it doesn’t work against Mistrals that have a purported accuracy rate of 96%. Military reports say that once it locks on you might as well eject!

It’s a harpoon alright… only it takes out fighter jets.

But really, how can the operator be so close to this weapon and be exposed to the sound and blast if they are in fact some sort of anti aircraft missiles.?

That's why he's wearing pro ear muffs. I’ve fired comparatively crude RPG anti-tank missiles from my shoulder with ear muffs, while another guy held me from the waist, no worries!

Mate, these manpads would be lucky to take out 2 out of 500 sorties.

Before today, I hadn't even heard of them, but Australia made a mistake and bought Mirage aircraft in the past. Never again because they were completely useless!

Woodend joinery is by far better than aluminum which is why people pay a mint for it. It is more labour intensive and adds more value to your home. Aluminium windows are a no go for heritage traditional homes. You are comparing an imitation Rolex to the real thing.

??? 500 sorties over what period of time? :? And why would that be? :?

And don’t assume they’re the only answer to the TAF the CNG has.

Also, don’t confuse the TAF with the USAF!

Should take care of the first wave of anatolian assault.

Don't worry, I don't confuse the TAF with the USAF or the RAF, RAAF or IDF or anything like that. But I am not silly enough to downgrade their capabilities because their fleet of F-16s are equipped with various countermeasures which more than adequately mitigate any small risk these weapons might pose. Sorry, but airpower is at the top of the food chain and these weapons have not undermined it as you insinuate.

Airpower without sophisticated support is a vulnerable hit and miss affair!

Like I said… don’t confuse the TAF with the USAF!

The TAF has some 200+ F16s. Their pilots are very well trained and I would say that they are as good as any.

500 sorties can be completed in a very short period of time. We are talking about very short turn arounds here.

Their limiting factor is not their hardware but Pilots. There is only so much you can get out of a pilot and I estimate that they have about 1.5 suitably trained pilots per F16.

And I don't think that losing half a dozen jets is going to be a real big deal. Sure they won't like it, but they will live with it.

The pilots will more than likely survive, get captured and the RoC is obligated to abide by the Geneva Convention. You would not be allowed to lynch them in this day and age, because you wouldn't get away with it.

You might be right Paphitis.
But that doesn't mean we'll stop upgrading.
The f-16's are not invincible, there's bound to be a small success rate.
