Import Tariff for things ordered from the US

Postby dodo » Thu Mar 03, 2011 10:07 pm

I want to order some stuff from the US (eBay seller), the value is around 150EUR.

Does anybody know if and how much they will charge for import tax/tariff ?

What is the limit up until they don't charge you anything ? I have tried finding some info online, but the only things I have found are in Greek and I don't understand much Greek. http://www.mof.gov.cy/mof/mof.nsf/DMLin ... enDocument

If anybody has some info, please drop a line

I don’t know how valid this now is, but a few years ago I bought around $500 worth of goods and paid CY£26 I think...

Oh hang on cos weight is important... these goods didn't weigh more than 2-3k.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
Few years ago...was it before or after Cyprus joined the EU ?

I know in some countries there is a limit for personal use goods....like 100 something euros, free of tariff. Don't know about Cyprus though

You have 15% VAT for a start, plus any tariff the EU applies for the particular type of goods, but they don't always bother with this.

you will have to pay customs charge of 15% on the actual value of your item 150 plus the shipping costs, so if it costs around 200 with the shipping you would pay 15% on that amount.

hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replies. I was mainly curios because I have ordered stuff before from eBay, some things were of 100E or slightly less value but I didn't get any duty charge, it just came to my local post office and I picked it up. This time, it's 2-3 wristwatches that I want to buy.
