Many of us know it hasnt, many dont care and many others are hoping that it has. However, that isnt really the point at this stage, the point is to send a message to Ankara first. Then an even stronger meaasge to the current ruling government and in addition to raise the moral of the TC;s who since the referendum have been increasingly feeling depressed. Many parties on the left have been meeting with EU parties over the past few years along with Cristofias speaking in great detail and honesty. THE IDEA THAT WE IN THE NORTH ARE ASKING FOR THE SOUTH AND THE WORLD TO COME TO OUR RESCUE IS BOTH ABSURD AND INSULTING TO MANY PEACE ASPIRING TC.S. what many are asking is new thinking on the issue. Today there were many mixed messages such as, re-unification, lift the embargoes, out with imperialsim, self governance and importantly, we as Cypriots should run this country but we wont allow external powers to create tensions amongst TURKS and TC,s, that would be a nightmare. BUT ANOTHER ABSURDITY IS WHEN I HEAR MANY OF MY COMRADES IN THE SOUTH WHO ARE STILL LOOKING FOR AN IDEAL SOLUTION, THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN AND AS TIME GOES ON IT WILL BECOME HARDER AND HARDER TO ACHIEVE, IF THE ROC RULING ELITES REALLY WANT A SOLUTION THEN THEY TOO HAVE TO MOBILIZE OR PERSUADE THIER SUPPORTERS. Are you telling me that it would take the death of SOME TC's too get fellow Cypriots in the South to give a damn? That to me seems like the same kind of phycology that got us into this mess in the first place.

mentioned alot of things how about giving back peoples property in the north, not housing but the land first till there is a solution?

what do you think bananiot?

oh..... it's all gone quiet over there.

If you want a solution then then get off your backside , (you may already do) and demand it, otherwise stop complaining, TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER. Passports are meaningless, they are abstract inventions just like money created by people. Real human issues transcend money, such as solidarity, togethrness, the ability to look beyond rules and conditions layed down by foreigners, and yes this can be done forcefully and peacfully.

:? But this demonstration had nothing to do with being Cypriot and everything to do with grievances over proposed wage/salary cuts and privatization!

Maybe it’s another demonstration in another country you were watching…

"Turkish Cypriots are indignant about the oppression they are under," Christofias said. "Turkish Cypriots feel like the rug is being pulled from under them."

The demonstrations highlighted a growing awareness that Turkish Cypriots need to regain control of their own future, said Ahmet Sozen, director of the Cyprus Policy Center think-tank

I wouldn't go that far. But a few cracked heads might help you get the world's media to pay attention. Any volunteers?

Poor old GR, hapless and speechless as usual. Deeply depressed too, for the TC's are threatening to remove the Turkish army before he gets his chance to perform his heroic act.
