Faulty USB ports?

Postby alex_ruffneck » Tue Mar 01, 2011 5:52 pm

I'm having problems with my toshiba laptop, it's a few years old now, and the printers hasn't been communicating with the computer properly - I bought a new printer and I'm having similar problems. The USB-mouse is now 'not recognised' and I have also been having problems connecting other devices via USB. Is this a software issue? Or are the USB ports the problem? Any ideas?

Test the USB sockets with a memory stick (hardware issues).

If OK then update your Toshiba USB drivers (visit Toshiba support/download homepage).

With no regular maintenance and proper configuration, your windows is probably all screwed up like that of most users! If you’re in Nicosia bring it to my workshop and I’ll make it go from a useless donkey to a fighter jet in 24 hours. If not, then find someone else who knows what he’s doing to fix it for you.

If this happens with all USB ports its is probably a software/driver issue.

Yep sounds about right, i try my best to keep it in check, i use ccleaner, spybot, avgfree etc but maybe they're all conflicting against each other causing more problems, or maybe the porn danger bot levels have got too high and the old girl can't cope... either way it needs attention. If i'm in the area i'll drop you a pm and come down

In other news, the brand new laptop (windows 7) i'm now using wont connect to the internet using the same mobile internet usb dongle thing (cytavodaphone) that my old laptop (vista, urgh) is, and the old one is working fine. i tried downloading a newer version of the cytamobile software for windows 7, and also tried to download updated drivers for the huwaei usb thing, to no avail. weird thing is, it has managed to connect a couple of times, for a little while, and then it stops again and i can't reconnect. removing and replacing the usb thing sorts it out again temporarily, and then the same thing happens again. i'm sure it's a settings issue but i've fiddled around in control panel as much as i can and i can't figure it out.

FUCK

Can you install Windows XP SP3 for a friend? If so, send me a PM with your shop address & how much it'll cost.
