With no regular maintenance and proper configuration, your windows is probably all screwed up like that of most users! If you’re in Nicosia bring it to my workshop and I’ll make it go from a useless donkey to a fighter jet in 24 hours. If not, then find someone else who knows what he’s doing to fix it for you.

Can you install Windows XP SP3 for a friend? If so, send me a PM with your shop address & how much it'll cost.

LOL Why would anybody go to that idiot to do something so easy?

And what if the Windows installation stops dead half way through with…

“Exception Error: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”

You reboot and it keeps repeating the same thing!

What are you THEN going to do Einstein?

You're gonna have to help your friend now or look pretty dumb!

Or did you assume that every computer that comes in is brand new, works perfect, 100% IBM compatible, and everything flows hunky dory?

That is the problem with amateurs, the think all this stuff is easy!

I have a new HP computer with pre-installed Windows 7 to set up for a friend over the weekend, and I am dreading it!

They’ve “mastered” clicking “next” on THEIR computer so why should everyone else’s be any different?

That’s how the clever dick thinks…

For amateurs, if it still has the original partitions intact you may get away with it with an F8!

Maybe that’s what Yialoser has been doing and assumes every one else has an OS partition too!

I assume nothing of the sort. Once had a machine where the systems disks came corrupted with a virus:

I have in the past (a) Partioned a hard disk to set up areas for the operating systems, and (b) formated partions and indded whole disks and done a complete from the "Ground-up" rebuild (both Dos+win3.1 and XP) on olders machine - the problem I had with the last rebuild I dis, about a year ago, was with some drivers as not all the disks were available. Fortunately I had enough to enable me to connect (wirelessly) to the internet and I found a site that analysed the system and located and installed the correct drivers.

One of several things I respect you for is the technical posts - and as I understand you make your living in IT I would not want to steal the bread off your plate.

You can otherwise take the mickey all you like out of me for my spelling and grammar - I'll agree with you - it's f******g cr*p! Comes of being a product of 1960's British Ejukashion where spelling and grammar were seen as at best secondary to expression, at worst as outmoded concepts.
