What you are saying is what your state propaganda machine wants YOU and the World to believe...You've obviously swollowed it,hook, line and sinker...It is propogated to justify ALL the injustices and trickery that has been imposed on the TCs since 1963...You will not find one TC who will take what you claim to be gospel, not even someone like Kikapu,,who is the most enlightened, forgiving, and progressive TC I have ever known!!!
The moment AKEL switched its support to Enosis with Greece, instead of independence, the TCs were left with no choice whatsoever...Get that into your thick skull, and you might begin to see things in a different light..
The Greek Cypriot aspiration for Enosis in the 1950s was a legitimate response to the British colonial occupation of Cyprus. It was not directed against Turkish Cypriots. Whereas the Turkish Cypriot campaign for partition in the 1960s was wholly targeted against the Greek Cypriot majority with support from Turkey. You became pawns of the British then of Turkey. Collaborators with the two former colonial powers - you defined yourselves not as partners in a new state but in opposition to the island's majority.
Turkish Cypriots became proxies for Turkey's partitionist agenda on the island. Now you are in danger of outliving your usefulness to the occupiers. The Turks openly despise you as "parasites" while the G/Cs despise you for the way you so readily acquiesced with the Turkish plunder of the island.
Between a rock and a hard place. But one largely of your own making. If I were you I'd choose the hard place of a unified Cyprus rather than the rock of Turkish assimilation. For the simple reason that you've seen what Turkey has to offer and it's reduced you to penury, corruption and slavery. In stark opposition to the flourishing community you'd have likely become in today's ROC. That's life. You rarely get to undo the choices you make. If the G/Cs make you a good offer though I'd grab it. It might not come around again...
