Bugger all to do with any notion of Re-unification that most of the Good People of the Free Areas would be comfortable with.

Wish the protests had nobler, more altruistic aims... but they haven't.

billy boy. i'm the first to acknowledge the protests are nothing but self-interest. people don't pour out on the street in a military-controlled regime for a jamboree. the people of libya are revolting for reasons of self-interest.

a sophisticated politician in the roc would give the protests the necessary spin - to the world, as well as to progressive forces in the north to build on...

ie. it's in the roc's self-interest to capitalise on this. agitate, encourage, support. not remain on the sidelines.

develop common self-interest is what i'm saying. not pretend it isn't happening.

All in favour of Spin and Agitation etc etc mate, but we need something to spin with, and a handful of flags of the Republic and a Banner ain't enough... perhaps we ought to wait for Wednesday to give these greedy, scammy lot another chance to see whether they ain't just greedy and scammy and therefore worthy of support.

Anyone for tear-gas?

How can you do something and why should you do something with a group of people who's aim to annex part of Cyprus to Turkey?

Whys should and what can you do for a group of people who see you as the enemy constantly. Even in the middle of negotiations you have a leader who says am Turkish like you accept me.

Perhaps when we hear the words AM Cypriot, we may consider something different.

There is indeed plenty the RoC government should be doing but whay you have a bunch of "Rodeny's" who are for the most part uncircumcised eunechs who could not organise a p1ss-up in brewery, but would rather stab each other in back, what does one expect?

Cosying up to Cuba and other similar AKELIST acts, reminicent of the cold war, will only lead to a repeat of the '74 stuation with the USA, where the RoC may not be seen as trustworthy and not get as much support of the USA against Turkey, as it could.

It’s in the Republic’s interests that Turkey fails miserably by the end of the year, so that the EU will remove Turkey from the ”European countries” list once and for all, so that the new hostile phase may begin!

And I’ll be ready for all the action with the popcorn! Image
