Spreading extremism

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

These incidents are killing the forum imo.

It will always return to the tried and tested mantras that has been part of their education.

My friend, I must say I disagree with you on this issue.

Branding a certain group of people "extremist", and then de-humanising them by pronouncing them "uncorrectable", is not right in my view. Everyone deserves a chance. Besides, what we label as extremism is usually for the other person nothing less than a deeply and sincerely held view, quite often an extreme reaction to extremely painful events in life ...

Labelling and denouncing is among the roots of extremism, not amongst the cures ...

Ok, one more post and then I'm done...

As one of the people I have the upmost respect for on this forum, I take your points on board Alexandros. However, it has become almost impossible to cut through the swamp of posts from certain new members in this forum. As a result, they have damaged the conduct of reasonable debate. I fully understand that they have reasons for holding the views that they do, they are not without basis and in some cases I'm sure I could reach agreement with them.

But, when the topics keep getting diverted by meaningless debates about Islam, which given the Turkish government's secular nature are hardly relevant, or by pronouncements on the character of TCs as a generic group, it does prove difficult to make this forum work as it has before.

Therefore, I have sought and found an alternative, which I hope will maintain an atmosphere more condusive to constructive debate. I have disagreed with the views of many people on this forum, including yours, during the past months, but I always knew that we could discuss them and either reach a common agreement, or agree to disagree. With certain recent members, it has been impossible to do either. They believe in absolutism and have made that fact very clear indeed.

I have also lost faith in the Admin's ability to retain impartiality and also trust is his willingness to keep private conversations private after he posted one of my PMs in the forum's moderators area (which is still a public area). I know this might come across as 'spitting the dummy', which it probably is, but I have the choice of where to spend time posting and don't feel that my time is best spent here anymore. I will continue to watch the forum, but will probably not post in the future.

I therefore wish you luck my friend Alexandre and hope that our paths cross again one day. You're a fine researcher and have done much to improve the understanding of both GC and TC of each other. I wish you continuing success in doing so.

This forum has seen all kinds of people in the past. What changed recently is not the "extremists", those appear every now then. What changed is that some people were wrongly selected as moderators.

I would like people to note however that not all the teens in this forum are extremists...

I didn't say that. What I meant is that the extremists in here are mostly teens, while in the real world the extremists are also people that have the rhetoric and the power needed to drive the crowds. If we can not deal with some teens, then how the society will be able to deal with those "big" extremists. Remember that in democratic societies you can not "ban" somebody simply because of his views if there is no violation of any law.

Piratis, it seems you have lost all hope in this forum, does that mean you ahve lost hope in the real world about the cyprus issue?

In what respect I lost hope? Are you referring to this thread, or the other one I made recently?
Regarding the extremists I didn't loose hope at all. I believe that most people can resist the extremists if they want to. If they don't want, they will of course use the extremism of the other side as an excuse for their extremist actions.

With your racist claims about all turkish people such as "thieves, murderers...", you are the most extremist person in this forum.

Why are you talking like Erolz? Are you the same person?
Are you running out of arguments detailer? (hmm.. ok, never mind, you never had any arguments anyways)

With your racist claims about all turkish people such as "thieves, murderers...", you are the most extremist person in this forum.

Oh, ok. So to deny people access to their own homes for 30 years because of their race is not racist, while to say that those people that illegally occupy those homes are thieves it is?

Your racist actions can not even be compared with the most racist words, let alone what I said which is the truth for many TCs (I never said all of them)

If saying "all turkish is thieves" is an argument, I dont' have any arguments.

Thanks for leaving some TC out of your racist "arguments".
Even now, you exclude some TC not any Turkish.

You decleared countless times all turkish race as "barbarians" etc. This is not about 74 for you.

Again, why are you defending admin's actions here so confidently?!

I never said all Turks are thieves. I have nothing against any modern day Turk that does not support the illegal occupation of Cyprus.

Even now, you exclude some TC not any Turkish.

See above. For me the thieves are those who support the stealing of our land. If you support it you are a thief, if you don't you are not. Unfortunately it seems to me that more TCs and Turks support this action than those that don't.

You decleared countless times all turkish race as "barbarians" etc. This is not about 74 for you.

What I talked about is the history of Turks in general, where their greatest achievements had to do with conquering the land of others. Isn't this the truth? I didn't say anything against individual Turks that I am sure many of them would wish if Turkey had progressed into something better than the military owned state that it is today.

Again, why are you defending admin's actions here so confidently?!

Are you going to forbid to me to defend the actions I agree with?
