good piece...

the cypriot revolt...

http://www.neurope.eu/articles/The-Cypr ... 04807.php#

Sener Elcil, head of the Primary School Teachers’ Union (KTOS) stated: “the officials in Northern Cyprus are Turkey’s puppets”. And the president of the Secondary School Teachers’ Union (KTEOS) told reporters “we do not want to be slaves; we want peace, a united Cyprus”.

No, not drunk. Once for speeding once for not wearing a seat belt - in both cases "It's a fair cop guv, I done it. You got me bang to rights -" I am thinking of Kitas, Lallas, the MMAD - student assult fiasco, and various other episodes and remarks, including some posted here recently concerning a blackmail issue, which do not reflect well on the Police.

i'd say they were better by virtue of being paid to enforce (however inadequately) the law of the land in a legitimate sovereign state, as opposed to being paid to protect the perpetuation of illegalities in an outlaw one.
