I am not sure the Police of the RoC are any better.....

i'd say they were better by virtue of being paid to enforce (however inadequately) the law of the land in a legitimate sovereign state, as opposed to being paid to protect the perpetuation of illegalities in an outlaw one.

I'll drink to that - but not when I am about to drive - some of them still however can act like clowns - mind we have them in the UK too!!

the cypriot revolt...

Sener Elcil, head of the Primary School Teachers’ Union (KTOS) stated: “the officials in Northern Cyprus are Turkey’s puppets”. And the president of the Secondary School Teachers’ Union (KTEOS) told reporters “we do not want to be slaves; we want peace, a united Cyprus”.

An interesting quote from the link above (actually from one of the comments below the article... )! What I have been saying all along...Turkey had no interest in Cyprus up to mid 50s...Those who are accusing TCs of aiding Turkey to fulfil her expansionist desires ought to think again...me thinks... :)

The early stages of the Cyprus conflict, in the mid-1950's were mainly a struggle between the Greek Cypriots and the British Colonial power, with the Turks at that time hardly interested in the island. There is strong evidence that the British Government of the day deliberately encouraged an indifferent Turkey to take a more active interest as a useful counterweight in the struggle against the Greeks

It might be old news to you and me, but there are those who insist that Turkey had expansionist desires on Cyprus for a long time before 50s...
And the TCs were complicit in that..That assertion simply is not true...
